Wow, what a price! Depending on what the old laptop had for CPU and memory configuration, the new laptop will probably be a lot faster with the 8gb of RAM and the 7200 drive. If you still want to replace the drive, the Momentus is a good option.
Hi everyone,
I have a Lenovo z61t laptop that I've been using in conjunction with a Samsung 46" LCD TV.
Before I upgraded my Intel integrated 945 video card drivers to the latest 6.14.10.4926 drivers, I was able to use my TV as an extended desktop even when the laptop lid was down...
Well, that's interesting. I know for a fact that my friend does not have a CableCard. But it sounds like the CableCard would only be needed to decode things like ESPN and HBO in HD, but isn't necessary for people who just want local HD channels. Is that a correct assessment?
Yeah, 14k...
My friend with the QAM tuner-equipped TV didn't subscribe to an HD package or anything. He just plugged and got the HD channels (along with all of the Standard Definition channels). I don't know if he has ESPN though - I should ask.
Do many TVs come with QAM standard? I'm in the market for...
"Integrated NTSC/ATSC/QAM Tuner - Watch regular and High Definition programming with or without the cable box. Choice is yours."
I think his Vizio has QAM. Is that what I should be shopping for if I want to get HD straight from the cable without a digital tuner box?
I think he's only...
That is so odd - I have a friend with a Vizio 42" LCD he bought from Costco, and he gets HD signals using his Comcast cable without a digital tuner or other equipment. I went to his house and saw that he simply took the cable and plugged it directly into the TV. Does his TV have something that...
If I buy an HDTV (say, an 1080p LCD with an HDTV tuner), can I hook it up to my cable connection (Which is currently analog) and get an HD signal without renting the separate digital tuner from Comcast?
I've been curious about this for a while, and I keep hearing different answers.
Thanks...
I've never heard that the Office and Groove 2007 keys were not fully licensed. It is a fully legitimate license. Once activated, you probably have to re-activate with Microsoft if your system configuration changes.
vortix:
Look at the back of the Launch Resource CD sleeve. Read the fine print at the bottom of the CD case. I think there might be some language there. Can anyone confirm?
Ah, I see. You're referring to the "Favorites" listing. Got it - that helps a lot. It doesn't automatically do this for subscribed threads, does it?
edit: okay I'm a doofus - I found the "My Forums" screen. DUH! Thanks for your help guys. It's been too long.
Is there a way for us to keep a handle on all of our subscribed threads? Maybe a personal forum category that allows us to see - in one spot - all of the threads that we've subscribed or "bookmarked?"
Thanks!
Am I correct in that Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 is actually Windows XP Professional but with the media center features? There is a lot of confusion about this subject on the Internet so I figured I'd ask the trusted folks on Anandtech :)
Wow, what a great thread. I am also a Tech Rip Van Winkle (and to think I used to post here on a daily basis). The last computer was a DELL (flamesuit on) in November of 2002 when they were running that awesome EPP special. Some Dimension 8250 for $300 after rebate or some ridiculous amount...
suse920: I know, I know. I guess I'm just lazy and haven't found the "guidelines" for creating a proper buddy icon with the AIM-like text. I liked that icon and wish I had backed it up somewhere. I guess I just always thought I'd be able to find it easily in the future.
Hey everyone,
Several years ago I came across an AIM buddy icon with the word "geek" on it and an image of the AIM guy with a propeller beanie on his head. This icon is not animated and I had been using it happily for several years until I installed Trillian and it overwrote my profile +...
I just got a call from Dell regarding the buzzing that some people (including me) have reported on their 2405FPWs. The buzzing is most noticeable near the power plug. Dell wants to capture the monitors that have the buzzing and test them in their engineering lab in Austin.
Please see more...
Well, I bought the Dell 2405FPW after going through a bunch of 2001FPs that had all sorts of different problems. So far so good - only complaint is a slight buzzing noise near where the power is connected. No bad pixels, no backlight bleeding.
Wow, old thread!
Did you ever figure this out? You should probably uninstall the drivers entirely using Driver Cleaner and reinstall the latest ones from ATI. Keep us posted.
Is anyone able to provide a snapshot of gaming at 1600x1200 (or some lesser resolution) in 1:1 mode so the screen only uses the pixels it needs? I'm curious what that might look like.
That's correct. I was unable to, however, figure out how to "hack" SetPoint's appOverrides to get my Eudora tabs working. I had to use LogiGamer to configure it, using rlowen's pre-made user.xml as a default. If anyone has any feedback let me know.
Don't forget to give LogiGamer a shot too. I used it to configure this same "tilt wheel" function for Eudora's mailbox/emails.
It's avaiable at: http://www.logigamer.com/
If we apply this same line of thinking, why would people even bother innovating technology? If we all thought that way, we would be happy with the first thing that came off the production line. One big point of technology is to overcome current hurdles and obstacles, whether it's in our...
Who are you to tell me if LCD technology is for me or not? I had a Dell 2000FP from early 2001 and that monitor has been flawless and has worked fine for me. I wanted another 20" panel from Dell with the thinner bezel so I went ahead and placed an order. Is it too much to ask that I get a...
Appears that the 2405FPW uses a regular computer power cable - no A/C adapter block!
