Lower prices for GeForce2 Ultra's already happening......

"I wouldnt really want to get that brand of ultra" I agree. I wouldn't even consider buying a Visiontek brand of anything. Not even at half price.

What's the best game to showcase my Radeon 64 DDR's ablilities?

No One Lives Forever and StarTrek Elite Force. Both are solid, beautiful, and excellent games. They both have superb single player games, and Elite Force has great multiplayer too. The multiplayer on NOLF is not that good.

BenSkywalker is right. There are plenty of both good and bad things. Some of these bad things are pretty major though. "Other cards that allow static index buffers as well as static vertex buffers will have situations where they provide higher application speed." Hmmm....other cards...

3dfx voodoo 5... buy now or wait?

From what most sources are saying, it will be atleast 2 months before the GeForce3 will be available for the PC in any decent numbers, and ATI's next card isn't due out until a couple months after that. So I'm not sure that waiting for the next gen will be a factor for you, unless you are...

I doubt the problems have been fixed. Nvidia seems to take a "Speed over Quality" attitude and I don't think it will change with this card. They make cards for kids who want to look at benchmarks, and get people like Carmack (who pushes more products than Toys-R-Us) to hype them. Same...

I'm going to start saving up for a GeForce 3...

I'm going to start saving for eye surgery from the damage that Nvidia's 2D has done to me. :P By the time that game is here, there will be GeForce5 or Radeon4 to choose from. By then maybe Nvidia will fix their terrible 2D, and Ati will fix their remaining Win2K driver problems.

Help Me Decide on a First Video Card

If price is the main issue, get a Voodoo3 3000 for now. Decent game performance and solid 2D. If you can spend a little more get a Radeon that is on sale somewhere. The Nvidia cards 2D (at any price) will give you headaches from staring at the blurry desktop.
