That's not "over tesselation". That's just increased image qulaity in newer games. I'm sure you guys know better than game developers on how to do their job. Nope
Of course NVIDIA's newer cards perform better than their older cards. That's how it's supposed to work. If AMD would release...
"Over tesselation" that's hilarious. I guess NVIDIA has too much image quality. Too much performance.
This sort of posting is not acceptable to discussion in VC&G.

AMD has had plenty of mistakes to affect their "mind share"
Hawaii was too hot and loud
Fiji was too slow and memory limited
Crimson killed cards
Terrible directx 11 driver overhead
Terrible Linux drivers
Ect.
Way back when the 5870 launched AMD and their fans were high on tesselation. Once NVIDIA clearly showed much better tesselation support they reversed their views. Similar to how they like to talk about async compute, but refuse to even mention conservative raster.
I'm not ignoring Vega, but it won't be here until 2017. By then it may not be a high end chip compared to whatever NVIDIA has to offer. If they truly wanted to compete they would have a high end chip right now.
Vulkan is just a fancy name for OpenGL. It will stay on the same path as OpenGL. Most PC games will continue to use DirectX. In fact most games over the next 3+ years will still be directx 11 or older.
Semantics on mainstream ;-p but how I listed it looks like how it will pan out. AMD is abandoning the high end to focus on consoles. In the long run that's a smart move.
I imagine they will release it just after Vega like the 780ti. Spoil another launch again. It depends on hbm availability and whether they can keep up with the Tesla demand.
Going by the current rumors:
1080 = high end market
1070 = mainstream market
1060 = mid-range
Polaris will compete with the 1060
Vega will compete with 1080 next year but NVIDIA will have a new card as well.
I did say "up to". So far I'm not wrong. I certainly won't count a paper launch.
I wasn't expecting AMD to abandon the high end all together. I guess they need to focus on consoles.
Looks like I was right. Pure market speculation. Everyone must have had their sell order set close to $4.00. Now it's heading right back down again. I wonder if it will ever go above $4.00, probably not. I'm guessing it will dip below $3.00 again.
This happened in December and the stock fell back down. Pure market speculation.
They lost a ton of money and have not even touched their debt. They are on the verge of bankruptcy
I thought this would make for an interesting discussion over the holiday weekend.
Your thread is a troll thread. Do not do this again in VC&G.

I saw an open box 980ti for $520 today. If NVIDIA launches in May the 980ti could drop below $500 which would leave very little room for Polaris in that space.
Talking about Nvidia in the AMD section
Not allowed.

AMD gains some improvement over opengl, but still falls behind NVIDIA in Vulkan. Maybe there is not as much mantle code in Vulkan as some had thought. Maybe it didn't matter either way.
Hopefully we see more vulkan games...
GCN is the prime reason AMD has lost so much market share. Trying to spin AMD dragging out the release of a new architecture as a good thing is not grounded in reality.
Intel already dominates the integrated graphics market. This is just a licencing deal to cover possible patent conflicts, same deal they have with NVIDIA.
