I tried Plex. No joy. Still lagged and had audio issues.
KentState... I will look at what you have. Couldn't I just stream direct from the PC to the WDTV's?
My Blu-rays are .m2ts files. Should I be ripping them as ISO's?? And do you know if the WDTV will stream the .m2ts files (I...
I have a HTPC, and have had moderate success streaming from it in the past. I want to do some upgrading and start a whole new approach and am looking for honest NO LAG solutions.
Here is what I have:
HTPC
Motherboard: EVGA nForce 730i motherboard

Thanks for the input.
PS is an ANTEC true 430. I can upgrade if needed.
I run to an Epson 8500UB to a large electric Daylite screen (can't remember the diag on it.... but measures like just under 14ft across).
I run HDMI from the HTPC to a Surround receiver. Then HDMI video out to the...
Does anyone have an opinion on what is the best CPU price/performance at the moment? Say keeping around $200 for the cpu. Looking at the i3's now as well.
I am looking at the ASrock mb. Any particular reason you like that board over say an ASUS? I'd like to stay with a full size ATX board...
Thanks for the input. Yea.... best bang is kinda wide open I spose.
I will look at those video cards. And lower powered CPU's. I wanted to put together a system that was getting the best performance for the buck. For instance if the cost difference from an i5 vs an i7 was not much...
Hello all.... I have not been on for like.... a VERY long time. I used to build and overclock many years ago, but have been out of the hobby for awhile.
I am wanting to upgrade my HTPC and am looking at the below for best bang for the buck with a little lean toward just have to have it...
To rip the Blu Rays... I am using DVDFab6. Works perfectly and I don't need to run the ol AnyDVD, and the slew of other programs I used to run when ripping DVDs. I can rip in either ISO or .m2TS, etc..
Fallen Kell.... how you like that 9.9??? I was looking at getting one of those. I currently run my sound through a Sherwood preamp to a surround of Def Tech speakers and am very happy.... but can't get the pure audio like you are getting.
I think I will pop for one of those soon. That and...
OK.... I have everything tweaked perfectly now.
The programs TMT3, Media Browser, Metabrowser, and Media Center are all working in harmony and I am WAY stoked.
I have (2) 2 terabite drives and I have a dozen or so Blu Ray movies ripped so far. They are playing perfectly using the .M2TS...
Ok.... I am making progress.
Everything is working as it should with a few exceptions.
First.... I can not get TMT3 to play ISO's. So I have to DVDFAB6 those into .mkv files. Not too big of a deal as I have a small collection at this time of Blu Rays only in ISO. Maybe I need to tweak...
Ok.......... got my fancy pant program Media Browser back in business on Media Center.
Now. What do you use for Blu Ray rips??? I have my Blu Rays ripped to ISO. BUT....
low and behold.... TMT3 Does not play ISO!!?? Or at least not the demo version.
So. What is a good player that...
Anyone know how to get around a problem I am having?
When I install TMT3 it replaces my Media Browser Icon in Media Center. I removed the NEWS icon, so there should be room for both TMT3 and Media Browser. How can I remedy this?
Thanks
What a PITA. Can't someone just come up with an awsome suite that catalogs our movies like media browser, plays them in media center and be done with it?
Now I have to load Media center studio.... and try to get my media browser back into Media Center. It still shows under Media Center...
Ok..
Removed Daemon lite. Removed PowerDVD.
Installed Slysoft virtual clone drive. Installed TMT3.
TMT erased or rather replaced my Media Browser in Media Center. And hard locked after xing out a movie.
This is going to be fun. Now I remember why I tossed my HTPC work a few years...
I can get PowerDVD to play back the ripped ISO files (Blu Ray), but I have to do it manually outside of Media Center.
I am starting to lean torwards using TMT3 as I think it integrates better with Media Center and Media Browser.
Also it looks like I am switching to Slysoft virtual drive...
Fallen Kell..... why are you using both TMT and PowerDVD? Why not just use the newest TMT3?
Also..... should I rip all of my normal DVD's using say DVDshrink, and keep everything in ISO form? Or do you guys just rip them in TS/VOB files?
What proggy are you using to rip and what format...
It looks like TMT3 really is the player to have. I am reading that it fully integrates with Media Center.
PowerDVD kinda blows from what I can tell.
What are your thoughts?
I am using Media Browser, Media Center, And PowerDVD to play the movies, and Daemon lite.
I can't see to figure out how to get Daemon to mount and unmount automatically. PowerDVD just keeps playing the original mounted file (same movie over and over). It won't unmount the original movie...
I have been able to get my movies showing in Media Center.
I am having trouble now launching PowerDVD. As I remembered in the past I was using a different player and it launched without issue. However... now I have Blu Ray movies and they require a new player that plays Blu Ray. PowerDVD...
I am working on my HTPC and wondering what software works best.
I am trying to use Media Center with Media Browser and PowerDVD. However with a very big NO JOY.
Is anyone using MC and MB on a Vista machine with real success and what player are you using for your DVD's AND your Blu Ray...
I am having trouble configuring Media Browser so that Media Player sees all of my ripped movies for playback on PowerDVD.
I used to have it all figured out and at one time had a HTPC. Recently I decided to build a new HTPC and I have forgotten how to set up MB and MP to allow for the VERY...
Could someone list some of the computer related jobs that normally can be conducted from a home office? Telecommute... etc..
I am looking at making a career move more in line with my passion.... computers. I have always worked on computers (since mid 80's), and can do just about anything...
I too am on a search for this as well. I will post if I run across some answers.
In the past I have just used cut and paste of "paint" with my signature, although not "verified" for documents like Excel, etc..
Downloaded from Zone labs website.
Here are the files found by Moosoft cleaner to be trojans.
If someone can.... download the most recent ZoneAlarm and an updated copy of Cleaner, and run a scan. Would be interesting to see if its a new "fun" idea by the Israeli's since taking over what...
I downloaded free Zone alarm onto a new system. Low and behold I am scanning with
Cleaner (moosoft), and it is showing several of the downloaded files as BACKDOOR.IRC.KELEBEK.J
WTF???
Anyone else have this happen?

Can someone tell me how to tweak Internet Explorer, so that it does not jump to a new page when that page is finished loading?
I am really getting tired of it.
I want to be able to continue working on a page and let new pages open in the background without forcing me on to the new page...
I have Vista running..... and I have some questions.
I am experiencing some issues.
My concerns are:
ZoneAlarm turns off Windows Firewall and instantly enables FILE SHARING.
I can only turn off file sharing when I turn ON Windows firewall.
I have satellite internet so Sheilds Up...
Shikhae,
I don't believe you do in actuality. As you have the option of doing a CLEAN install with the upgrade software.
Also you don't need to install the VISTA ultimate to get the deal at MS for the Home Premiums. Just the key off of the software box.
Found lots of Ultimates at the BURBANK store in Cali. Thanks for the HU on this one. 3 Vista disk (one ULTIMATE, and 2 Home PREMIUM) with key for $250 after using this dealeo, not bad I spose.
What I really want....
Is a file recovery program that is highly automated in that it will just find the lost files, and put them back into the same file structure as before. I really do not want to sift through 90 gig of data to try to find out what might and might not be important to the...
The hard drive is physically ok.
The hard drive was read as 100 gigger when reinstalled for a new OS install. Normally the BIOS/motherboard would have read the drive correctly, but this was a new VISTA install, and somehow it masked the true size of the drive, if that is possible. This was...
I am looking for a good data recovery program. Seems there are more data recovery programs out now than cracks for VISTA.
Can anyone recommend a good (hopefully easy to use), program that really does a good job, and preferrably shows lots of detail while doing its magic?
Any help is...
