I would actually be happy with the 1070 for a bit lower price (lower than 550e). It seems like a proper upgrade and seems to have longevity for at least couple of years. On 1080p I'm looking at new games for 60fps actually looking like next gen games. MMOs would run like a dream on this card.

400e for a 1070 is good. And a considerable upgrade from my current card. I want to keep it at least for 2 years.

RX 480 not an acceptable upgrade from my GTX 780

The asking price for non-reference RX 480 is 350 euros, and I paid 400 euros for 780, which smashed through all the current games back then. The prices are messed up currently for these cards. I would gladly pay 400 euros for a 1070, but that's not happening any time soon.

Just saw some benchmarks comparing these two cards and checked out hwcompare.com and I came to the conclusion that the performance upgrade would not be significant enough to warrant an upgrade. Sure more VRAM and DX12 support would be nice, but new games can still use DX11 and I can play these...

GTX 1070 size?

It turns out the MSI gaming 1060 is the same size as the 1070 (I can probably fit it). I only need a card for 1080p at 60fps (just bought a 1080p 60hz monitor) so the reasonable solution is the 1060. I can get some money for my 780 after I buy a new card so I'm set for at least 18 months with...

GTX 1070 size?

I have fit a GTX 780 into my case, but if this card is larger than that, I will have trouble fitting it in. The alternative to this would be to get a 1060 with 6gb memory if that card is smaller. A new case would be the best but I have limited budget on my upgrades.

GTX 780 to 1070 upgrage?

Cooler/CPU noise

Seems like the problem was with the PSU fan, and not the processor fan. CPU fan revolves freely even when testing it. PSU fans can make a lot of noise as I found out searching the youtube.

Processor started making noise
