Really strange, but I can save them with viewer and then photoshop will open them. Too bloody strange.

I can only view jpg files in windows picture and fax viewer. The files won't open in IE or Photoshop. They were backed up off a laptop hard drive before doing a reinstall of XP. XP had some corrupt system files and after running for over 5 years felt it was a good idea just to start over. The...

Won't ping from the server, and the firewall/ics isn't installed so that isn't blocking it. One thing I haven't tried is to do the add a printer from a workstation to see if it works with the ip it has. I don't want to run it from a workstation, but I do want to verify I can at least get it working.

It has a static ip, it is reserved on the router, and my last statement was what you just mentioned. I tried the tcp/ip add a port from the local add a printer and it still wouldn't take. But I can still print from the old sbs server to it, so I know it is working fine. It's just plain strange.

where to put the network bridge?

my xp pc hooked up to sat service w/ a pci card, dial return. nic goes to lan port on router used for wireless, it has a fixed lan ip of 192.168.0.10 since my pc is using 192.168.0.1, access point enabled, all firewalls are off. the dialup is shared so roomie can get to internet through wireless...

trying to setup realvnc on a users machine so I can get to it remotely, and I'm missing something. In the server setup I put my ip and netmask in, but on the viewer at my pc what the heck is the server name. From reading the setup I thought it would be the ip/subnet of the server but it isn't...

Trying to setup a quick way for someone to backup a few folders with nero, using 6.6 ultra. I'd like to set it up so they could use a cd-rw and just click on a saved session and have it erase the disc and rewrite the files. possible? this needs to be as idiot proof as possible.

yep, hopefully marine electronics will catch up with technology some day and go usb, but until then this is what I have to deal with... so far the usb to serial adapters have been iffy, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't so it isn't something to rely on at this point in time... which...

Computer for Photoshop and digital imaging.

I had photoshop running on an old tyan dual board with dual PII 450's and it was pretty quick because photoshop CAN utilize dual processors

most of them are running ecc globe, some serious stuff, bathymetric charts, maptech has nothing like this, but for $5000 you'd think they would be vector charts, but they're raster, and cards are fine... but the case has to have room for them doesn't it? and some of these almost sealed cases...

lost wireless connection-intermittent

Netgear MA111v1 wireless usb adapter installed on XP connecting to an older Intel 2011 access point, and it will work fine for long periods but will sometimes just drop the connection. All the other PC's in the office are connecting just fine, and a PC further away almost in a direct line behind...

Small office network, all wired with a router running dhcp, file server on the network. Added an access point, actually a netgear router to give some wireless access for a few laptops. I can't see the other PC's or server, so I can't authenticate the login to get to the files on the server...

yep, neither the new or old board has an option for ide hdd or anything like it in the bios for boot options. if it did and was set to that and the drive wasn't formatted correctly it would have given an error that the hdd wasn't bootable or not found or whatever. there is NO setting for booting...

one of the offices I take care of called me about a pc not booting, it's a gateway celeron 1.4 I think with an intel kittyhawk 1.5 motherboard. When booting it goes to the intel network boot then stops. I went into the bios to check the boot options and there was no option for the harddrive...

radeon 700 dual head question/issues

Bump again. This lady has dual lcd's and the second is also one of the multiple input tv tuner models. It's rigged with cable, dvd and a vcr into it, nice setup if I can get this cursor crap straight. She has a wired little office now.

radeon 7000 dual head cursor issues

not my PC, and it's an old Gateway Performence 500 so I wonder if the hardware would make it. They would probably buy a new PC before they bothered upgrading the os. I just checked the site and I installed the cat 3.2 drivers yesterday, the 414 I remembered was the version number.
