Lord of All has the right idea. You need to get yourself a router or routers. I just came across some good tips on routers (brands, performance, etc.) over at 8wire.com. They're all about networking over there. Try 'em out.

Yeah, I had the same concerns about a month ago but then I read a post on http://www.8wire.com that assured me that I was cranking at the hightest speed possible. I wish I would have just checked with them first instead hitting a wall everywhere else.

I recently added the same configuration... but I kind of jerry-rigged it from some tech-fred off of http://8wire.com. It works for me but you might want to hit up those guys to take it a step further. They seem to be up to speed on this networking garb.
