Didn't qualify for 1500, even though DSLReports says I'm under 10,000 ft from CO. I did switch from my old 640/90 to 768/128 and dropped the price by $5. I've been testing it (using www.ba-hss.com) and the download speed is still running around the low 500's.

The selling of essential.com prompted me to look for another provider. www.zoneld.com seems to have good interstate rates at 4.5 cents, no fees. After signing up, you can use their "rate smasher" to get the rate down another half cent for calls to five states.

The etrex is still available at some OD's. I tried two display models, but the screen just sits showing the "Wait... locating satellites" screen. It never seems to locate the satellites, even after 30 minutes. Anyone know if this is normal?
The wrist pad never gets hot enough to bother me. The bottom of the unit is where the heat seems more intense, and even there, it has not bothered me. (I don't typically lay in on my lap though.) I've noticed that when running on battery power, it's only warm to the touch.
