Which OS for HTPC+NAS box?

If you're going to use it for HTPC, you'll want to avoid the sever OS's (you will have to manaully configure video, sound, etc). Any Windows 7 will work. Ultimate will allow you to remote in with remote desktop and still get Aero features.

I'm doing the same thing, my Windows 7 htpc is also serves as my NAS, Web server, and mail server. Any OS can do NAS, Webserver and mail server. But for the htpc tools, windows gives you the most options.

I like it too, I let one of my machines expire before activating, then I saved it. Now I just have to find where it is to move it to other machines. Edit: If you go "Contol Panel Items / Personalization" you can right-click on any saved theme and select "Save theme for sharing"

Odd issue - bootloader is on external drive

Power Point Imbedding Video?

Make sure the .ppt file and the video are in the same folder and you'll be fine. If the video is in a different directory from the .ppt file, PowerPoint will make a hard link to its path.

FIXED - For some reason Win7 and VISTA are picky about the time being set correctly on both PC's. The time was correct within one minute but the date was off by 2 weeks. After fixing the date on XP3, everything works correctly. P.S. Cisco's Network Magic found this error. Strange...

Favorite windows program to compute SHA-1 Hashes?

What's your favorite program to compute SHA-1 hashes? For MD5 I use WinMD5 (http://www.blisstonia.com/software/WinMD5/). I've not found anything I like as well for SHA-1. Sugestions??? Thanks, doan

Use imgburn to make an iso of the CD, copy the ISO to your flash drive, then mount the image using daemon-tools. Alternatively, if both the netbook and PC are on the same LAN, you could just set up are share on the PC and install over the LAN.
