$48.88?! Thats pretty dirt cheap.
Also another extreme cheap route I done a couple times is hit up a local junk yard and check out their "pulled batteries" section. I grab a Autocraft yellow top in the past and drop it off at advance auto for them to recharge it. I knew the guy who work at...
I'm also considering an HTPC as well to replace my Apple TV. I don't mean to hijack your thread but I have a Dell Optiplex 390 SFF with a 3rd gen i5-3470. I am curious if anyone knows if this is beefy enough? If it is, it might be a good option to consider one OP since you can pick these up...
Athlon 64 3200+ (754pin)
ASUS K8V-SE Deluxe
1.5GB DDR-400
250GB SATA150 Seagate
MSI 5950FX 256MB AGP 8X
Phillips DVD-RW
Antec EA380W
Not sure why I still have this around. It is setup in the guest room being used once in a blue moon.
The 2nd oldest computer that is being used by my father is...
The site is dying? Crap! I been working to get to the 25 post so I can post in the "for sale" section. I guess I'll head back to hardforum again?
(Yes I made this post to help reach #25 heh)
If you can shell out the cash... the Ncase M1 hands down. It was developed by two guys on hardforum then they took it Indiegogo and it took off. Last time I check they have Lian-Li manufacturing the case for them.

That is one of the many good things about Corsair. They have a lot of their parts available on their website but you have to dig a bit though.
The part is about $15 + shipping. Here is the link:

I had the same issue with my ASUS Z-97A board and tried so many methods with no results. My only solution was to send it to Asus for an RMA. They were about to send me back my own board but I stress heavily about the double boot issue. If you go this way OP be sure to push for a replacement board.
I assume you are asking a recommendation on a closed system?
As far as I am aware (and I could be out-of-date), most of those close systems being sold by Corsair, Zalman, Cooler Master, and so forth are made by mainly two companies. I think those two companies are Asetek and CoolIT. So in my...
+1 on the Dell outlet. I picked up some amazing deals from there over the years. I do lean towards m ore to the business outlet for the Latitude models. Just about almost every single item I bought from the outlet looks almost brand new.
I picked up a Dell Latitude E5450 for ~$459.

I'm using my old e8400 HSF on my q9550 the past 3 years. However I'm not pushing or stressing it. It is being use as a spare computer in the household. Temps if I recall are pretty reasonable. I'm sure my q9550 ran much warmer when it was overclocked with an aftermarket heatsink back in the...
The past two years my MSI and Gigabyte warranty process is pretty much the same. Send the board in and wait 2-3 weeks turn around.
Though I lean towards gigabyte because I had quite a bit more MSI boards fail on me.
I'm coming from the Dell Latitudes and at my previous company, I didn't noticed any heat difference between the i5 and i7 5th gen cpus.
It took a while to convince the IT dept to switch to i5 laptops and spend the savings on SSDs.
