Win2k Pro: 256MB vs 384MB RAM?

I've been thinking about doing the smae, 256 -> 384. Ram is so cheap, I don't see why not. I typicaly run a minimum of 15 programs simultaniously so I dont have to open and close them, I simply minimize. Any updates from otehrs results would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, I'll just do it...

Help! Harddrive (IBM 75GXP) and Win98 SE don't work

Hmm... Well, I got my system working in win 98 now :) How did I do it? Not sure actualy, just tried so many things then when i reboted one time they apeared. However, my friends system is still messed up. And... to make it worse, my drive is not even in his computer. It is in the same config...

ATA/100 HDs

genova - your mobo will come with a ATA 66 cable and you can use the drive with ata 66 on your mobo. If you want ata 100, you will need controller card or Abit KA7-100. Eitehr way, your mobo will come with an ata 66 cable.

Comments on Midiland S4 4060s vs ACS48's?

I have the ACS48 and they kick @ss. I also have the Altec 295 on my old computer. Currently I am using Creative Desktop Theater 5.1 (not the DTT2500). Midiland 8200's are in the mail ;) ACS48 - VERY loud, great crisp bass, mid and high's. ACS295 - Pretty loud, but not as good as the ACS 48's...

*update* I tried fdisk /mbr on both my machine and my friends machine that the drive was put into to format (1 of the 13 formats it now has recieved). This did not work :(

Help! Harddrive (IBM 75GXP) and Win98 SE don't work

Lithium - It is set to 0 (master) the same jumper config that the drive shipped with. I checked jumpers as the first step, but everything is fine that way. I am thinking that Windows 98 might have problems with the 45 Gb hard drive? It works in Windows 2k Professional.

lithium - Yeah, Bios detects everything fine. The win 98SE boot disk detects the cdrom's in dos. Just not in windows becasue of the MSDOS compatibility mode and the Primary and Secondary IDE have the yellow exclamation points in them.

Charles - forgot one thing, can you tell me the settings you have for the drive in the BIOS. I have mine set to auto (which finds the drive and uses LBA mode, which is correct) May be the cylinders and head config is messed up using auto? But then again, why does Win 2k Proffesional work but not 98?

A case for the ka7-100

Don't forget the SuperMicro SC-750. For a full tower case, you would be hard pressed to find better. I have my KA7-100 in there with PLENTY of space to spare. http://www.supermicro.com

Best Perfomance Video card?

It will Work on the Asus P2B, just in AGP 2x mode. Your board does not support 4x. Not much of a performance loss though, so don't wory ;-)

IRQ problem on KA7

Once you have done what Pariah said, go to the device manager and change the IRQ to a free one. I have my KA7 running just fine this way with 5 slots filled ;-)

Yes, you can simply put a cable extension to make the speakers reach your computer if they are too far away for the orignial cable to reach.
