I could see serious streamers going for a Threadripper build. Leaves a lot of nice headroom for not just the game and video encoding but also all kinds of other background tasks one might need done simultaneously. Gaming and content creation can go hand in hand.
What is the advantage of splitting your company like that? Iirc AMD only did that because it was their only choice if they wanted to remain in the business of making x86 CPUs.
I've never had a multi monitor setup but I've been thinking about having one big monitor and one small one on the side. Big monitor for games and movies and other media and the small one for desktop stuff and browsing when I want to do or check something quickly on the side without having to tab...
Did you never spill anything on the keys on the 2nd keyboard? Do they feel fine physically? You can wash a keyboard with water and some dish soap as long as you rinse it and let it dry properly too. This saved my keyboard (that I had spilled some wine on).
When it comes to cherry MX switches and gaming I'd try back or red ones next. I have blue switches and I don't quite like them for the purpose of gaming. I feel like I could spam a key faster if it didn't have that built in clicky thingy. They are great for typing though.
That was fascinating. I've neglected researching how crypto currencies work for far too long. This was very helpful. But what about privacy? Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't a decentralized system like this mean that every transaction is public for everyone to see and as such, every shady...
Once all the manufacturing equipment is there, isn't the majority of the manufacturing costs in making/buying the unprocessed silicon wafers? What do those cost per square centimeter?
How are the memory speed issues progressing? Is it reasonable to hope that at some point BIOSes have matured to the point that all memory sticks can be ran at their rated speeds?
It could be that Gears of War 4 is an exception. Maybe it's not optimized well? Wait, Nevermind. It is actually more the norm than an exception these days :(
But what about compression? I read that Nvidia (and AMD as well?) use memory compression in their video cards. According to what I read...
There is no TIM out there that makes a big enough difference to make the stock cooler perform noticeably better. Check out the Cooler Master hyper 212 EVO. They're cheap and perform as well if not better than coolers twice their price.
I didn't expect baking soda to do that because it's a salt. Usually we see static charges generated from the friction of some sort of plastic and organig fibers like human hair or wool socks. But then again I'm not aware of the mechanics involved in static electricity generation when it comes to...
Don't quote me on this but if I understood anything then all kinds of potential energy in whatever form adds to the mass of an object or a system or whatever. Apparently the mass of a hydrogen atom is smaller than the mass of an lone electron and a lone proton combined for this reason. But can...
Isn't DTS just a digital audio compression format that is used to transfer more than 2 channels through an interface that normally supports only stereo? Do you need that?
Are you saying that it was the interaction of the powder and the hose that caused the electrical charge to build up? What were you vacuuming exactly? :D
I know right? You would have to use considerable amount of force on an intel cpu that's been clamped down in to socket to cause any kind of movement in the pins. Are you sure they were fine prior to shipping?
Wait a second, Are you using a dual link DVI cable? What if the connection between your GPU and your monitor simply did not have enough bandwidth to support 1080p@144Hz?
Did the board have the socket cover on when it was RMA'd? I myself find it hard to believe that pins could bend in normal use. The socket locks down the CPU quite tightly.
