It's a pretty good start. Better than AMD's Zen1 in my opinion. It's interesting to see how they can improve this. If they can increase the clocks a bit and then add some ipc improvements on top, they are in really good spot CPU wise.
GPU, divers and firmware (bit odd behaviour in some...
Doesn't apply to many European countries. I pay 17,99 € for unlimited calls, texts and unlimited data (max 200 Mbps LTE). Like I've said before, using your phone as a hot spot has been a thing since Symbian was the hottest smartphone platform.
I only want Linux for command line utilities and it's just simpler if there are Mac users working on the same project. UX is a mess on Linux (well, it's a mess on Windows too but without certain downsides) and there are many downs sides from hardware support to even hardware accelerated video...
If I remember correctly he was hinting about different form factors so I guess we'll see desktop products too. That probably means mini-PCs or NUCs but even that would be better than just laptops.
Probably vs. the slowest X Elite but in any case, the difference is so small that the one who has...
I don't think Google even knows what they are doing with ChromeOS. They should just make a proper computer OS instead of this garbage that doesn't really know what it's supposed to be. X Elite for ChromeOS would be pearls before swine.
No, third party coolers. Pump out effect can happen after few months and hot spot temps start to climb. At worst it leads to throttling and noisy cooler.
Having the "best" core doesn't really mean much. If basically everyone can build their own CPU with off the shelf ARM design, it's going to make a difference. Also the cost is going to be a big factor. If you choose x86, you're stuck with Intel or AMD and I don't think companies want that now...
I get a new work laptop but I'm waiting for new stuff (well, basically X Elite and Zen 5 - doesn't look like Lunar Lake is going to make it in time). All software that I use is available natively for ARM so no issues there (I mostly use WSL2 Ubuntu for actual development anyway). Only problem is...
I don't think their previous attempts are even remotely comparable to current situation. Their entire consumer Surface lineup uses what CPU now? That should tell something.
We'll have to wait and see... PC business is operating up now that Windows is working on ARM machines and Qualcomm's exclusivity is ending. Anything is possible.
Two ships vs. armada. I think it's pretty obvious how things are going in the future. X86 has been Intel's strength because they've had the PC monopoly. Take that away combined with mediocre chips... Things can change rather quickly.
Well, yeah, definitely. It's just that NVIDIA knows how to use their position to sell lower end garbage. It's part of their marketing. As long as it's GeForce it will sell. Maybe they can flood the market with those too.
Look... It doesn't matter and that's not how things work. It only matters...
Naah. Radeon is not the best performing product and competitor has the superior product. That's the problem for AMD. Some just want the best and the best is RTX 4090. It's just as simple as that.
