Any CPUs accidentally paired with one single-channel 4GB DDR4 2133 CAS 17 memory RAM stick. Yuck.... they run just as slow like any 2GB DDR3 due to extended CAS latency in DDR4. I am disappointed that I paid twice for DDR4 at half the performance of DDR3, similar to Pentium D experience again.

i3-8100 would be a dramatic improvement for not going obsolete. Intel processors depreciate faster than AMD after 4-5 years. Core i5-4570s now selling for $70 range.
When you upgrade to full four cores, the frequency speed number is lower (single-thread) and will be slower than Core i3-7320. DDR4 RAMs also have increased CAS latency timings. I found any DDR3 RAMs with CAS Latency 8 or less are faster than any DDR4s I put in.
FX-8320E and FX-8370E are the newest 95W FX CPUs. Since this new 2018 Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3 R2 just came out, it will be in production until end of 2020 when all Windows 7 support ends. Imagine owning a new AM3+ in year 2020 with Sempron 145.
This is true, only about 20% of Athlon II X2 220 made use a quad-core die but with two cores disabled. Majority use Regor dual-core version.
A more efficient value is to get the Athlon X3 version (like Athlon 425) for just $10-$12 each. All of them has an additional one-core disabled.
This Gigabyte 78LMT board is their best-selling motherboard of all time, and their most important model, regardless how obsolete it has become today. There are bunch of people refuse to get into AM4 game. And FX-8350 can reach $5 ten years later.

As DDR4 RAM prices continue to go up unfavorably, switching back to old FM1 (or latest FM2+ platform) looks more ethical each day. 16GB DDR3 is only $80 used, while 16GB DDR4 will touch $220 new by late-2018. I only paid $85 for 16GB DDR4 back on November 2016, this was the last and final DDR4...
How much the DDR4 RAMs cost? Motherboard cost isn't the biggest concern, it's DDR4 memory RAMS, so I'm sticking to DDR3 only for now and all the sockets using DDR3. And all the new leftover AM3+ motherboards appreciate their value and running at $250 now, which VirtualLarry declined to stock...
i7-2600K was the last major redesign in CPUs, I think. Since then, new CPUs only have better integrated graphics and lower power consumption, and only slightly better CPU performance.
It'll get there someday. Depreciation on Intel processors isn't pretty after 5 years or so. Current market shows most of used LGA1155 dual-core processors successfully touched down below $15 shipped each. Nearly no depreciation yet for Z77 motherboards for the next few years.
Every Walmart stores on Black Friday are different, and so I visited Yucca Valley, CA store and no one bought them. TVs were hard to sell too. In my area at the desert region, almost all stores still have some in-stock left. The bigger cities were apparently sold out and gone.
If you put in Windows 10 someday, you'll be surprised how faster your PC runs, and a new Kaby Lake makes it worthless. A cheap upgrade to i7-2600K doesn't hurt.

An OEM power supply generally lasts for 7-10 years, sometimes more. Some of the new ones, including Bronze certified, don't last as long as the older ones because they have smaller and lighter heatsink on board than before.
There are plenty of used Dell OEM power supplies for less than $15 shipped on eBay. Good enough to last you for several more years until you retire the PC. A Corsair 80+ Bronze would be a waste.
