Bump the memory to 2.7V then run memtest86. My guess is that you will get lots of errors with the memory running at 2.5
Also, I wouldn't worry about 2.7V or even 2.8V. The AMD side of the house has been running higher than that for a while now.
My Hyper-X will run memtest86 with 2.7V at 170...
Anybody remember SharkyExtreme? (before the buyout)
I've been a long time reader of Sharky, Toms, and AT. Now that Sharky is gone, I'm left with only two sites on my list. I read them both and compare results to come to an average consensus.
So what I'm getting at is,, don't be so hard...
I've had the IS7 for a few weeks with no problems other than XP installation with a Radeon 7500. Replaced the Radeon 7500 and had no issues. But the memory timing issues won't be fixed until a new BIOS comes out.
I recommend the BH7 for the following reasons
-You only have one stick of memory anyway so Dual Channel isn't a concern
-It's for a parent, so they don't care about bleeding edge performance
-You're going with a 533FSB so official 800FSB isn't necessary
-Look at the BIOS flashes for the IC7...
Direct link to IS7-E on Abit site
On the actual MB page, only 533 FSB support is listed. However, the main 865 page does list the IS7E as having the 865PE chip. The 800FSB could be disabled in BIOS.
Right now, its hard to say how the final lineup will look like. The webpage has...
Nope. I'm too cheap for windows 2000. I'd consider it as an alternative tho. Only problem is, I'd hate to spend ~$150 only for it not to work. Right now the old XP home is working.
Not sure if you read my other IS7 thread, but my IS7 has the 3COM Gigabit LAN chip. I'm not sure if it was a...
Just wondering all,
I have a POS 2.53 P4 C1 that only does 2.85 reliably. What is the max Vcore that I can run without having to worry about NSDS? Thanks.
Ok,
After two solid days of troubleshooting, I finally have my Abit IS7 system up and running. XP Home SP1 would not load. It would always fail at the same spot during "configuring devices". However, I installed my pirated XP Pro volume edition and an old copy of XP Home. So definately...
Talk about a major score. Gigabit LAN, plus all the other features for $124 shipped. That totally makes up my non-mvid 2.53 I just got in the mail. Thanks jaeger
Here's another small issue worth considering for the IS7. Installation of the Swiftech MCX4000 was problem free. However, I noticed one side of the copper plate touches the capacitors next to the I/O panel. I didn't have to bend the capacitors at all. They just look very close to touching...
Here is the exact printing on the 3COM chip

What do you make out of it? No officials at Abit forums will respond to my question.
Just a little FYI for the group,
Picked up a 2.53 OEM P4 from Newegg this week.

I was really hoping for a mVid, but C1 will do for now ;)
No overclocking data yet. I'll update once my video card shows up.
While checking out the onboard LAN chip, I noticed it was a 3COM chip. The motherboard lists a Realtek chip as the 10/100 chip and the 3COM chip as the Gigabit chip. The IS7 is not supposed to have GB lan, but I'm going to load the 3COM driver for the 3COM chip anyway. We'll see how it works...
The UPS man dropped off my Abit IS7 today. :D I picked it up from googlegear for $124. I was a bit nervous about the feature set, because the Abit site had conflicting information. Here's what's on the board.
-4 USB 2.0 ports on I/O panel
-1 Firewire port on I/O panel
-10/100 LAN
-six...
Gaidin, good sluthing! If I'm reading the website correctly, then the IS7 comes with 10/100 LAN, Firewire, and SATA RAID. Not a bad deal at all for $127:D I plan on ordering this board today as a replacement for my 1.2 Thunderbird/SDRAM combo.
You'll never believe this. I was about number 200 in line this morning, and I still got the drive. BUT, I gave it up to someone else before checkout. I must be a glutten for punishment to pass up a deal like that. Instead, I picked up the 256M Kingston mem stick for $4. I guess I'm just...
Let's talk about that Western Digital at Best Buy for $50 with 256M of generic memory.
I've searched the internet for specs on this drive and found nothing. WD's site has nothing either. It's not listed in their legacy section so I assume it's still a new product. Given the fact that the...
Thanks for the link. I'm in NC so Fry's is too far,,,, but BB is close. Too bad the Western Digital 75G is so different. Can't even find specs on the WD site.
Well, you were right . I finished ranger 8042's system last night. The CPU was unlocked. Too bad I couldn't get much over 1.428 (10.5 x 136).
Get this, even at default speed of 1.33 the ASUS A7V133 PC probe reported a VCore of 1.83! Doesn't sound like there is much more headway in the...
The receiver is in my entertainment center. Nothing stacked directly on top of it. I admit, the airflow in the entertainment center is probably stale. But none of the other components get as hot as that Technics receiver.
BTW, thanks for the forum link. It looks like a good place to check out.
Hi everyone,
I have searched the internet for answers and found NOTHING. So I came back to the forum.
Anybody have a A/V receiver that gets extremely hot to the touch. Like overclocked-V3-with-no-fan hot!! I bought a Technics receiver from Best Buy and now the thing will almost burn me...
Anybody ever had a program self download and install without your permission?
I started my computer yesterday and had this annoying little guy pop on my screen and tell me that he can warn me of prob's on my computer before they happen. The program then began to update itself automatically.
I...
