    OCing an old style Tbird (1ghz) questions

    First thing I would do is up the FSB to 133 if that chip is ment to run at a 100Mhz FSB. If it's already running at 133, you might be stuck.

    Need a PSU, your advice please.

    Check out this article... Link I'm running an EG465P-VE FC (VERY quiet) with 4 HD's, 4 case fans (1 120, 3 80), AMD 1600+ (not oc'd), DVD, CD-R, GeForce2 Pro, SB Live, NIC, and 256x2 RAM with no problems. But, after reading that article, I would have gone with an Antec True380.

    voltage changes under load? how are these temps?

    Why not try turning the fan around so it blows ON the HS. And a faster fan will definitely help out. Maybe something adjustable so you can set it at a volume that you can live with.

    Great case for the price. Do a search... I think there have been more talks about this case on here. I just added a window and 120mm front fan to mine. Good airflow and it holds all 4 of my HDs perfectly.

    If the fan has a temp sensor, cut the end off and join the two cables together for max speed.

    hehehe, thanks for reinforcing what I've been telling my friend here. I think those are damn good temps for a 1900+. I mean, my system is running at those temps and I'm not close to his speed. Now, if only I could get him to try out the Alpha Pal 8045 to drop a few more degrees. :D

    Old Skool Question. PII 350->PIII 500: Heat issues?

    Shouldn't be a problem. I went from a PII 400 to a PIII 550 with no noticable increase in temps with only a front case fan. You have to start worring about heat when you get into the Athlons and High PIII's.

    I have the MSI GeForce2 Pro that I did the removal of the capacitors on and love the difference! At first I thought it was no big deal then I opened a webpage with lots of text. My reaction was one of... Whoa! I'm very happy that I took the chance.

    Most cpu fans blow on to the HS. So the side fan would be feeding it cold air.

    Wow... I just tried Opera 6 on my Win2k computer at work and I really like it! I think I've found a new browser! :D Runs nice on a PII 450 with 128 RAM.

    Overclocking Athlon XP Results ?

    You shouldn't have to mess with the multiplier to increase the FSB. I didn't touch the bridges on my chip, just went through the BIOS and set the FSB to where I wanted. Couldn't have been easier. :)

    Your case temp is a little high. Why not try using the front fan as an Intake instead of an exhaust so blow some cool air into the case? That would make the most sense and drop the case temp a few degrees. I'm about to put a blow hole on the side of my case pointing towards the CPU but using...

    Just unlocked and OCed my 1.0 Ghz AXIA!

    I'm right there with you man! Just finished overclocking and tweaking my setup this weekend. Got it up to 1333 but just putting the FSB at 133. Raised the Vcore to 1.75 and ran a double loop of Prime95 with no prob. Much faster than the PIII 550 I used to have. :D

    Well, you could try watching the BIOS screens when the computer boots. If the IDE's are on auto detect, it should tell you at least who makes the drive. Or you can take the computer apart. :)

    Get a 7200RPM drive. Yes, it does make that much of a difference. The drive should come with software that'll allow you to transfer what's on your drive to the new one. I've only used the one from Maxtor and it worked great!

    It's usually something to do with the video card if things are slowing down while moving anything on the screen.

    You should also be able to run a KT7a at 10x100. I think it's going to be easier to overclock with the KT7a because you can keep the multiplier down.

    Once you get the motherboard, check on the manufacture's website and see if you can find a manual online. Look for the option to clear the CMOS. Good luck.

    Netscape crashes at random... is there a stable version??

    Well, I've tried out the latest 3 versions... 4.76, 4.75, and 4.74. I thought I had a winner with 4.74 but it crashed as I was writing this and loading a page in another window. BUT... it crashed less. :D Guess I'll just keep testing. I'm not giving up on Netscape! Anyone else out there...

    Make sure the cable isn't backwards. The red strip has to be on the same side as the power on the drive. The simplest things can be overlooked sometimes.

    I use both IE and Netscape for different things. The last few versions of the 4.7_ have not been stable. I remember some releases ago that Netscape was much more stable. 4.74? Any one out there using a version of netscape that is fairly stable?
