Need help with XP install/boot

Need help with XP install/boot

I was installing XP SP2 on a brand new HDD. I got it installed, but only if the older 20gig drive is in the system as the primary. Plus the comp will not boot up if the 160gig drive is there by itself or set as the primary.

WindowsXP SP2 Info...

all MS Service Packs have been cumulative since the NT 4 days, as far as I know, so the answer is 99.999% likely to be yes Not on the last OfficeXP ones. You have to download the SP1 first BEFORE you can get SP2. Maybe WinXP will be different then OfficeXP? Office XP SP3 is cumulative

anyone else have to disable popup blocker to read PMs ?

I use Norton Personal Firewall which has ad blocking integrated into it and I have no problems what so ever. Edit: Woot my 500th post. Only took me 4.5 years to get there, but well worth it. Thanks AT members for always being there for me.

HEY, How can I put in my own color codes for forum

I have to agree, the white is just too bright. I used to have mine set to a black background which to me was so much easier on my eyes. Hopefully once they get some of the other minor bugs worked out they will turn the feature back on.

Tribes 1 and Tribes 2 free...May 5th.

Does WIN XP Pro have a hard drive size limit?

Where did you come up w/ that. The very first time I installed XP (right after it was released) I formatted my 100GB IBM HDD w/ Fat32. Was that just get a fluke or could it be something else. I have since reformatted w/ NTFS so it doesn't matter that much, just curious.

Motherboard light is ON but Computer won't Start

Do you think this is the CPU or Mobo, and do you know how hard it is to kill a GF2 pro/ultra/gts?

I have had similar situations (minus the fans being seized) and in both cases the cpu's were dead. I would definately suspect that since your fans were seized very little heat was able to be removed from the cpu leading to its demise.
