@TahoeDust
What was the budget for your Skylake-X rig?
Once my TR build gets here, We can compare $ for $. :)
Currently running Ryzen 7 3.9ghz, 3333mhz CL14 memory, 960evo, GTX 1070 . Gonna be picking up the 16core Threadripper in a couple weeks tho.
I'm using a Ryzen 7 1700 at 3,850mhz with 3200mhz memory and a 1070. No problems at all. Have it sitting next to a 6600k 4.5ghz rig with similar specs and beats it in almost everything.
Have had no issues, using newest bios on a gigabyte k7 x370 mobo.
Only issues I've had was memory...
They are pretty damn expensive, and most look like MSRP

They are all very very expensive compared to x370 boards. Maybe TR mobos will also be that expensive too, but the cost of CPU/MOBO looks like it...
I was looking at these but the prices of the motherboards are absolutely crazy. The cheapest mobo's being $260!? Most being over $300!
Factoring this in the overall cost, I'm def gonna be waiting for threadripper..
Got a K7, The new F4D bios are great. I can finally do XMP and dont have to set the memory manually. Im at 3200mhz RAM with 14cas. Also able to do a dynamic voltage instead of constant and be completely stable.
This is what I've been talking about. If you benchmark just the gaming running like most reviewers these days, the Intel CPU would be winning this test.
But you add streaming, or anything else for that matter that happens during normal everyday usage. The Ryzen just pulls ahead.
I own both...
They certainly do have an impact. Watching HD content on one monitor while playing games on another is alone enough to reduce FPS quite substantially.
Edit: Watch this video at 8k and tell me you would have no performance impact during gaming.

I've posted this before, but I have own both a Ryzen 1700 and an i5 6600k. 6600k is overclocked to 4.5ghz, the 1700 is overclocked to 3.9ghz.
The Ryzen is wayy better in games. . When reviewers do their reviews, they have ONLY the game running and compare FPS. That is not realworld. When I use...
Dude, my girlfriend uses a r9 390 for gaming at 1440p. Can play witcher 3 just fine at high settings at 60fps or more. Please stop with this bullcrap. Not everyone needs ultra settings, especially when the difference between ultra and high is hardly noticeably.
ehh... I personally think the 6800k is not worth it. Either go for the Ryzen 1700 or the i7 7700k.
Not a fan of that CPU fan, especially if you wanna overclock. Get at least a Cyriog h7...
What numbers do you wanna see? The problem is same for reviewers, its very hard to show real world gaming in this way. All I can really do is share my experience with both platforms. But I can provide whatever info I can.

The Ryzen is wayy better in games. I don't understand all this. When reviewers do their reviews, they have ONLY the game running and compare FPS. That is not realworld. When I use...
