Techpowerup:Intel Says AMD EPYC Processors "Glued-together" in Official Slide Deck

Thing is that the juiciest profits come from the high-end processors = Platinum Xeons. If AMD would have been attacked only the low end part, Intel would have been able to just lower the prices in that segment and balance the overall profit elsewhere. Now the problem Intel faces is that they...

    Vega/Navi Rumors (Updated)

Wtf are you talking about? No one gives rats ass if something is just 5% faster than 2yr old product or if the new product is not xx% faster than the competitor or if the competitor has had nearly similar product over a year. Consumer logic is just price/performance ratio. Basic GPU features are...

Hard to understand the whole game streaming concept. You still need the actual computer: processor, some gpu, decent display, keyboard, mouse and ofc good network connection (25Mbps with Geforce Now). If you want to enjoy the highest details like these services like to advertise, you need to pay...

    AMD RYZEN Builders Thread

Yes, something weird going on with MSI's mortar. Now running with 1.1 bios which allows 3000MHz memory (1.2 and 1.3 worked with 3200MHz :( ) but at least I can OC the processor fine. Still if I try to do all OC on bios, memory speed will usually be defaulted after reboot to 2133MHz...but CPU OC...

Same result when using Linux. Seems that it was MSI's BIOS problem: A.20 bios and the newest A.30 caused this but when rolling back to A.10 the full speed came available on OS. Very strange, never seen this kind of problem, way to go MSI. :( On the other hand memory support is very good, 3200MHz...

    AMD RYZEN Builders Thread

Hello, Finally got my 1700 but right at the start faced very strange problem. CPU-Z shows that core speed is only ~1550MHz. I have tried without overclocking, without any power saving options, no Cool&Quiet or any other extra CPU features. Bios shows that memory is running 3200MHz and also...

Of course I would like to have that. Point is that 3200MHz is already way more than the current DDR4 standard frequencies suggest. I have understood that all the chips are anyway based on trimmed 2133/2400 sticks. I'm just afraid that if the very high-end 3600MHz+ sticks works only...

I don't think it's anywhre realistic. Remember that the official supported i7700K memory speed is still only 2400MHz. OC market is so small that there are sadly no point of putting big effort for satisfying the super enthusiasts' 0.01%.

Easiest question here so far. :) Definitely Ryzen and the more cores the better. If you're fine with some overclocking the best bang for the buck is R7 1700.

Per thread based licensing is definitely from the harsh side of the pool. You could also have fixed, socket, core, user, named user, memory, connections etc. based license metrics. Thread and core licensing favor Intel's slightly faster IPC but even in those cases we need to see first how well...

I think one reason why there haven't been any price drops is that they have enough assets to pretend that everything is ok. If Intel would drop their prices now that would be a significant indication that they're worried which is something Intel would avoid at all cost. I'm looking this from IT...

Point with my original "obsolete" post was that the current Intel's HEDT repetoire has to be changed. AMD has raised the bar so much that Intel have to bring their high-end server Xeon cores to HEDT lineup or they just cannot justify the current HEDT prices anymore. Your example unfortunately...

Indeed. AMD will have a total upper hand regarding the GPU knowledge when introducing the new Ryzen+Vega APUs later this year. They will be 4c/8t probably because of space constraints on the die. More interesting thing is how AMD's Infinity Fabric will be used between CPU+GPU and what kind of...

True, but as tamz_msc mentioned new version of AIDA shows different results. Also double sized L2 comparing Intel gives AMD some advantage. However, the biggest drawback with Zen is its CCX specific L3 cache as only 8MB can be used per CCX. If one core would need the whole cache, it would be...
