g4560 main role for intel was to be perceived as better and cheaper than any fx/apu that amd had, keeping amd head down in the dirt was worth cannibalizing part of I3 sales and probably even selling at loss for them.
now that there's ryzen its role has lost any relevance, simply as that.
not just inter ccx, its still unknown if the GMI controller is on the same clock domain afaik so it could impact even inter die communications - an indeep analysis would be nice.
Ryzen engineering samples were able to set infinity fabric clock to 1:1 (ddr), this ability has been removed from final Ryzen, probably wasnt reliable enough for mass production.
8 core epyc make sense if there is request for it, amd wouldnt base its market strategy on random defective parts
if there's request for it there will be parts sold, defective or less.
that 8 core is for datacenters that need lots of pcie/disks with little processing power so an higher tdp wouldnt make sense
the two number probably are configurable tdp (if you read the stilt thread he noted that ryzen has an "hidden" feature to configure max tdp) like in apus.
if you were amd chief of marketing what market you would exploit first, premium mobile where amd has zero penetration and its still growing and being more actractive every day or stagnationg desktop low end apu one?
anybody can detail how many pci-e lanes got zeppelin? from x399 data looks like that 24 lanes its an am4 socket limit, not zeppelin one but amd PPR documentation reports only "Two 8x16 PCIe® controllers supporting Gen1/Gen2/Gen3. Note that SATA Express is supported by combining an x2 PCIe port...
because this way they make an unified module that can be reused on everything, from the semi-custom console cpu to naples without requiring any r&d, like arm does for its core modules.
modularity looks to be one of the key "zen" arcchitectural design - you have a solid core module, an...
the idea about it being an apu comes from a march 2016 rumor that placed it on am4 - which cant route 4 memory channels signals afaik.
I dont think that was a reliable source, only the name was right.
later sources described it as 16/32 mcm on sp4 lga without any mention of the apu part which...
