You can set up multiple virtual environments within an os using vmware or virtuozzo's operating system virtualization technologies. They will behave independently of the underlying os and you can manage each of them separately.
Depending on the make of the server it may be configured with lights out management such as ILO for hp servers or drac for dell servers. You should be able to reboot servers remotely through those interfaces.
Go into group policy - gpedit.msc
user configuration -> Admin Templates -> Desktop -> Remove Recycle Bin from Desktop (Enable).
Refresh the desktop after enabling the value and it should be gone.
To maintain uptime I would do backups from one raid 5 array to another raid 5 array on another server. That however is not a fool proof solution as has been pointed out. I would use some other medium like tape for that.
Yeah you can use disk imaging tools like norton ghost or the one from acronis. I'm pretty sure there are free utils that do this out there but I don't have any direct experience with them. You can also resize the partitions however you like.
If you're still using the old drives on a...
You may need to set up a virtual interface on your router B that belongs to the 192.168.251.0 network. That way it knows how to get there. Right now it seems that it doesn't know how to get there through the gateway x.x.0.1. The best way to see this is try to telnet or ssh into router B and...
I just installed the 150gb raptor drive - the 1500adfd model - to replace a 160gb wd caviar. I straight cloned the old disk onto the new raptor drive and installed it.
I did not find load times in games or apps to improve by that much. Load times improved, but by only a small margin. The...
I am having some difficulty playing video's in media player when I am alt-tabbed out of games. I can hear the sound just fine but I cannot see any of the picture. The problem fixes itself when I quit the 3d game or app. Is this normal with the 7800gtx? It does not happen on my other computer...
Thanks for the suggestions. Unplugging the santa cruz and utilizing the onboard sound doesn't seem to help the stuttering. It is also apparent when I install Haali Media Splitter or when I try to enable/disable the use of overlays.
I tried disabling all video codec's and I can tell from the...
The driver update did nothing :( The entire computer is a new build with a fresh install of windows so it has never played correctly. I'll try disabling the sound, but I don't think I will notice the stutter since it is very subtle.
Thanks for your suggestions FlyingPenguin. I have removed all other codecs aside from FFDShow and AC3Filter using the DxMan tool. The stuttering is still apparent when I use BSplayer or Windows mediaplayer 10.
The codec's that are in use when the file is in play are 'ffdshow MPEG-4 Video...
I am getting some stuttering when I play Divx/Xvid movies in wmp. It happens once every couple of minutes and there does not seem to be a pattern to when it will occur. When it happens though, the video will pause for a split second and the sound will skip for that duration. I'm running the...
I have successfuly established a vpn tunnel from my home to a linksys vpn router at the office. The problem is that I am still unable to access any of the resources at the other end of the tunnel. My home network is on a lan that has the same IP configuration as the office - both sides are on...
I just finished building a new system based off the A8N-SLI Premium. So far everything works great. I'm running with the 6.66's without the software ide drivers. The only problem that I am experiencing is the vcore. The vcore seems to hover around 1.472 and 1.488 when I was looking for 1.49...
I am trying to run my A8V mobo in dual channel config using 2 sticks of 512mb. The problem is one stick is double sided and the other is single sided. When I go to plug both modules into the mobo, it will not post. Both memory modules check out ok if I run them one at a time. Would this be...

My bad they must be the promise then. Originally I tried the top controllers (VIA :P) but to no avail. Then tried switching over to the other set and everything worked fine. I do agree that its not as straightforward as it could be...
Is your 9800 a 256mb variant? I had low scores with my x800xt pe until I installed the beta 8.07's which contain the memory allocation fix. My scores jumped dramatically afterwards.
I installed the 8.07 drivers which contains the memory alloc. bug fix and the scores look more reasonable:
3dmark01- 23716
3dmark03- 12139
3dmark05- 5727

Yes that is the same order as I installed. I had SP2 slipstreamed into my install CD so I went directly to install the nforce drivers. UT2004 is definetly slower than my previous machine. I haven't tried overclocking this system yet.
edit* sound card was also placed in PCI slot #4.
