Bios only see's half my memory when it's turned on

It only shows the correct amount after I reboot.It's not a big issue,but it annoys me when I can't solve something.

I'm having a problem with my pc, when it's turned on it only see's half the memory(256 megs) in the bios and windows.Once I reboot it counts the proper amount(512 megs) in the bios and in Windows as well.What does this indicate? Specs: Sempron 2.5 gig Asrock K7VT4A pro 512 megs hynix ddr...

Hi, a friend wants to back-up his old cassettes and 8 tracks.I'm not sure if he wants them as wav. or mp3.What free software is best for this?Also is there any specific hardware required? or do you just hook-up the inputs through the soundcard?Any links or advice appreciated.Thanks.

Would this work as a thermal compound in a pinch?

Pc 133 sdram,generic psu,seems to be of fair quality,judging by it's weight,I clean it often,and case is well ventilated..The Ecs P4S5A is kinda neat in that it doesn't require a special P4 psu connector.I don't plan on o/cing .In future I will upgrade psu,if required.

I won't be playing online of course.Just want something to pass the time.Amazing the things you take for granted like car/home maint.,pc upgrading,bbqing,then try do them with one hand without aggravating the injury.Not so easy.

Got no cast(wish I did),cuz of the swelling from tissue damage,bones are plated/pinned back together,its very sensitive.Maybe the doc will cast it when he removes the staples/stitches. Thanks for the suggestions.

3DFX collection LOL

My first 3dfx was a voodoo1.Unlike the 4 megs most had this one had 6 megs(not a voodoo rush either).It was made by Canopus.Wish I kept it,not many of those around.

Ok thanks.I did at one time have it that way,but I took out my cd-rom and mean't to put the cdrw on it,never did.I'm glad I can put that old h/d on the 2nd ide as master,it will save me some work.I'd leave it in there but my p/s is only 200 watts (its a very good one) but it won't last forever...

RMA'ing a maxtor h/d,need advice.

Well I shipped standard as I had already got the ball rolling.What would happen if you advance rma a drive and they determine later that the fault is not under warranty?Just a thought.
