AMD Athlon XP : what is model 6, model 8, model 10?

model 6 : Palomino model 8: Thoroughbred model 10 : thorton ?? what are the differentces? Are they Socket A ? I want to upgrade to xp 2100 but asus said only Palomino will work with my motherboard? How do I know if I buy the correct CPU ?? Thanks in advance.

why not 400mhz??

How do I know it that CPU I am going to purchase is 100 mhz or 200 mhz? I am looking at a online price guides. But it never mentioned it was 100 mhz or 200 mhz, it only mentioned the fsb. Thanks again.

why not 400mhz??

I am still confuse, let's put it this way : I am going to buy a Asus P4P800 , Pentium 4 2.0A 512k 400 FSB and 2 pieces of Kingston 512MB PC-3200 400 MHZ DDR SDRAM . Do I need to manually configure the bios or let it dectect automatically? I want it to run at 400 FSB. I am not interested in...

why not 400mhz??

I got a newbie question. I was browsing some of the threads and I noticed many users were using a FSB 400 MHZ CPU but why were they setting their bios to 200 mhz?? For example if I have a P4 2.0( 400 FSB), it will be better if i set it 400 mhz * 5. But why are people setting it at 200*10 ...

What Power Supply Unit(PSU) should I buy?

I am currently using a Enlight 250 watt PSU for my AMD 1GHZ. If I am going to upgrade to P4 2.0 GHZ (400 FSB ) , what PSU must I buy? Must it be above 300 watt? I am not asking about the brand actually, I need to know what watt is enough. Thanks.

How to run my CPU @ 133 ??

I have : AMD 1GB 100/200 FSB 64 * 2 PC-100 RAM Asus A7V133 I ran it at 133 but my PC can't boot anymore. I need to open the casing, make it to jumper mode, take out the battery. Troublesome. Question : Is it possible to run @ 133 with this specs? Thanks.

ASUS A7V-133 Wrong Chip?

i have the same problem as you. So I take out the heat sink and the chip is indeed a KT13A chip. I believe Asus load the wrong Bios in the factory. I already flash it with 1004.awd in DOS mode. No problems found. I suggest you download the aflash from Asus website.

exactly we have the same errors. But anyway I go ahead and flash with 1004.awd. Please use the aflash from asus website and make a backup of your bios 1st. If something goes wrong, do NOT quit, just continue flashing it back with the old bios. When u do a backup, please remember the file name...
