How does welding metal work?

I just successfully soldered an entire 20 pin power supply connector by hand (including shrink wrap tubing). Each wire had to be done individually and matched by color!!! Soldering is like welding for nerds.

Why do people like manual transmissions?

I don't like them. All the people that posted above have never driven a truly powerful auto tranny car. "Control" is not necessary when you have torque. Drive a high horsepower/torque motor with quick shifting auto. ie MB E55 (now E63, etc). These cars are like space ships. They don't need to...

Parking on a steep driveway?

The car doesn't know or care which way the slope is. I hope you aren't one of those people that hug their cars before going to sleep. Parking with the front facing the road is something you should do anyway, (no to get into the whole "back in" parking spot issue) as it allows a safer exit...

Haha... Alienware Says Wait One Month to Ship PC

Correct. Dell ships the same system, same quad core, roughly same hd space, same monitor, same dual 8800 gtx (with liquid cooling+ overclocked!!!!! from the factory) in 2 weeks time. And it costs less. How does that work?

Thanks to Ctrain I signed up also. I have several advantages over most people though. I have no vehicle/gas/insurance expenses, I have plenty of time, and I shop frequently, eat fast food, and browse retail stores anyway. Its almost like free money.

Mythbusters to take on "the plane and the treadmill" conundrum?

A plane going 100 mph (indicated) on a treadmill means the treadmill is going 100 mph. However, you've conveniently ignored the fact that the wheels are travelling in reverse at 200 mph, allowing the aircraft to take off. Remember its true airspeed, not wheel speed like a car.

Excellent suggestion. And you are not just limited to boring buicks, there are some good choices for fun to drive cars also. Ex. Mercury Marauder. Good fuel economy, reliable, and when equipped properly, looks like the po-po and will run 12-13's.
