Before the presentation the only CPU I was considering for my next build was a 3700X. After the presentation the only CPU I am considering for my next build is... a 3700X. Absolute price increase is an issue, regardless of improved price/performance. They do look like great CPU's though.
For the record, I upgraded my Win7 to 10 when it came out, and my 5870 is humming along just fine ever since. I don't remember if it gave me any compatibility complaints back then though.
I'm running an old Radeon HD 5870. I have a huuuuuuuuge backlog of old games, so it's still good for me, even at 1440p. Really want to upgrade though, heh.
The only real way to get it back is to copy over files from the previous version of steam, then add a .cfg file in the Steam directory that prevents updates. Literally undoing the update and freezing your steam client at the previous version forever.
I'm on a X25-M myself still, for OS and most of my non-game programs, and nearing the 10-year mark I'm at about 20 TB of writes. Given the results of the old Techreport SSD endurance experiment, I think I've got another century or two before I have any problems ;)
