Ok, I read the back and they said they fined me $190.21 for filing and paying late and $49.31 for paying late. This also baffles the hell out of me, well not as much as the line items listed on the 1st page. I don't even get how they fine my twice for supposedly paying late. On the day taxes...

asp.net and mysql -- PLEASE HELP!

Also, you may find it easier to use a commandbuilder when working with datasets or datatables. It will automatically generated insert/update/delete statements when you call DataAdapter.Update.

calm your nipples. parameters with ? are positional/unamed parameters =] the official mysql odbc driver (which is what you're using) supports this. ado.net generates parameterized queries that use positional/unamed parameters. That is why the auto generated code works.

I don't know what odbc driver your using, but the official mysql odbc driver doesn't support named parameters. I recommend using the official mysql .net data provider (mysql connector .net). I made my own .net data provider using the mysql c api so making your own is always an option.

managed code is in il, just like java's code is bytecode. there's the cli which any language must conform to be a .net language. The cli prohibits multiple inheritance.

SQL question about returning a row even if one of the selects are null

In mysql, you can do "SELECT a, b, c, d, IFNULL(e, 'null')" try it in postgres and see how it goes, though make sure you're using the right null checking function.

In the beta of mysql5, there are stored procedures, functions, and I think triggers and views. My only beef w/ mysql is: 1) there is no support for named parameters, so far I've been using regex to circumvent that. 2) mutliple query execution isn't supported w/ parameterized/prepared...

the inherits page directive is an excellent way to separate the desing from the implementation. I find it very useful and keeps things neat. to each their own however and if you don't like it, it's designed to do both. but keeping all your code in a separate file makes updates very easy! btw...

ASP.NET programmers, help me out here.

Code behind blows as it's used only for vs.net, just remove the "codebehind" directive, and keep the "inherits" directive. That's what you really want. The only disadvantage is, .net won't compile the cs file as it's done @ runtime by asp.net.

had you used parameters, the sql data client would have converted the values automatically. regardless, get in the habit of using parameters as string concatination is expensive in .net and ad-hoc queries can cause security problems.

i've used both access and mysql for .net. Mysql is great, but the only thing I hate about it is their odbc driver doesn't support named parameters. I'd make my own .net data provider if their network protocol was documented. access is good too, but remember, it's a file database and no remote...
