Question for those who had to call Microsoft to reactivate Vista

I've had to redo it twice. The first time I just told them that I had some "goofy things going on with my install". They didn't give me any trouble about doing it. I did a clean install today after having issues with office and firefox, my activation went through without having to call in.

I want a large screen tv I can also use as my monitor

Not to hi-hack the thread, but it looks like YOyoYOhowsDAjello has close to the same speakers set-up that I do. I have the bigfoot and 750s up front, RSS300 on the sides and ELTs for the rear. I have a BenQ PE7800 PJ but don't use it for my computer. My screen it 92" also. I am considering...

Proper temperature for a NetBurst 940?

I have the same motherboard and a C1 940. My idle temp right now is at 22c. I had a 805 in yesterday and its temp at idle was 42c. I would say those temps look good. At full load I reach about 34c. I am running the 940 at 3.71. Geek

You should check out DvdLab, it is easy to learn and you just can't beat the price compared to other software.

What's the best DVD authoring software?

Check out DVDLab, it hasn't been released yet but I can get you the link to the beta demo if interested. I have MovieFactory2 and it is good, but DVDLab can do so much more and you have alot more control over menus, AC3 sound and motion menus. Fishingeek

What is the best capture card out right now?

Depends on how much you are willing to spend. I went crazy and bought the ADVC-100 and it was worth every penny I spnet on it. You can check out info on it here. You can read up on just about any card here. Hope this helps, Fishingeek

Ulead DVD MovieFactory SE problem - 4GB limit seems to be a problem. On WinXP Pro and NTFS??

Well for 1 thing you can only get about 4.3 GB on a DVD so that might be your problem. What are you using to encode the file?

Cinema Carft Encoder Basic

What do you mean by rip? CCE Basic is an encoder that works very well. It does the same thing as TMPGEnc only lots faster. You can only do 2 pass VBR with it though, which is fine for DVD but you might need more for VCDs. You can do some research here. Look under the conversion area.

How to remove macrovision to backup your VHS tapes?

Which DVD Drive to choose?

I have both a Liteon and a Toshiba 1702. Both drives are great and no problems with either. I like the Toshiba better because it is not as loud on spin up but other than that they are the same.

Maxtor does make that exact drive in SCSI so it is possible that he is right. Open his case and see if it is hooked up to his IDE cables or a SCSI card.

DVD Burning questions

My system is very close to yours and my encode rate with CCE Basic can be as high as 1.7 (1.0 being the real time so it is faster.) Read through the links I posted in your other thread for info on the encoders. Good luck, fishingeek
