Which slot do you have the sound card in? Make sure it is not in Slot #1 (PCI) I think that #2 or #4 is best. You may have to move around until you get it right. Or it may be something different. I have a generic vortex 2 sound card and have no problems. I think I have the sound card on #4...

Could not find that registry entry. I did cut the computer off and let it sit for 30 mins. Came back and fired it up and voila! the dvd and cdr reappeared. Not sure what the deal is. oh well, the world of computers : )
