Ummm, ok if you know that the command is "SHOWS FRAME TIME IN MILLISECONDS", then why not try something like "shows frame time in seconds"? I mean, come on, play around a bit, look in your ini files, and see what you find.

HMMM....do you have a PCI videocard lying around? I don't see why, but I suppose it could be the AGP bus. If you can, you may need to at some point reinstall Windows. I guess it's possible that you could have damaged some data on your hard drive. You did use non-magnetic screwdrivers, tools...

Come to think of it Peabody, you didn't even recommend the right Thermaltake. The Chrome Orb (or Super Orb) is their HSF for Socket A. Thermaltake brought it out because people kept on crushing their AMD's with the Golden Orb.

Yeah let's not beat up on Kyle. Face it, too many tech sites are dry and boring. I think only a very few sites actually serve the dumbass overclocker like most of us in here are. HardOCP is one of them. And frankly, I use it just as much for a good index of news and articles as for the content...

Umax 2100U or Visioneer 4400?

I just recieved my Umax Astra 2100U the other day. Works well. People say it's kinda slow, but I'm not running a business here, so it's fine for home use. It DOES have good image quality (at least for a 600x1200dpi scanner) and a decent software bundle (including Adobe PhotoDeluxe), so I'm happy...

Ahh, thanks for that link. Looks like that app just changes the info in the registry for you (while also backing up the previous key), but since it's only ~210kb I figured it's easier than waiting for info to do it myself. Thanks!

Ehh, no he won't have to change anything. If he's running one CPU at 1040, and he puts in the other cpu, and it's running with all the same fsb and multiplier settings, then it's exactly the same speed. You're still not making sense. We've got to assume that he's able to control the multiplier...

Where's MikeWarrior2 when we need him? ;) It depends greatly on what sort of mobo you have. Some read high, others read low. At 35C, however, even if it reads a little low should should be safe.

Ok, I just got done reformatting and reinstalling Win98, and of course like anybody else who hates digging out the Win98 cd everytime I change network settings, etc. I copied the .cab files onto my hard drive. It still asks for the cd though, and I have to manually point it to the right...

help - strange characters in a folder

Yeah that's it use DOS. Windows doesn't like those extended ASCII characters. Research it a bit, find you what characters you need, and then go in DOS and delete (or remove) those suckers. littlewhitedog.com actually had an article on nasty tricks, and one of them was to create a folder in DOS...

How do you change the "DEFAULT" home page in Internet Explorer 5x ?

Also, I have just a 250W PSU. Is this enough, or do I need more power to feed that hungry TBird? I also have a Geforce2 GTS, a CDRom, a CD Burner, SB Live. Is that too much for the power supply?

Yeah, I'd love to hit 1ghz, or get near it, but I don't know. I figure I can get the FSB up to 145 and maybe 150 if I'm lucky when I get new RAM. That's only 975 though. I don't think I'll be able to up the multiplier any more, because I already have the voltage cranked up to 1.85, the highest...

Will these coolers fit on an EPoX EP-8KTA+?

Arggh...ok already just stop bumping the same darn thread. The GlobalWin's will both fit (I have a FOP32 on my Epox 8KTA3, and the FOP38 is the same heatsink, just a faster fan). I dunno about the rest.

Keyboard won't work in Linux...arghh!!

Bought a T-bird 800 and a Gigabyte 7ZX-1 VIA

Yeah, I am not sure what the deal is with EasyTune. Originally, I didn't get the error message, but it didn't seem to take effect. I updated the board BIOS (I think to like version FA - weird version codes has Gigabyte) and I started getting that message that says it doesn't work with this mobo...

That's right, Easytune doesn't work with the GA-7ZX. If you want to overclock, then you definately need a new board, one with the KT133A chipset, like the Abit, Asus, Epox, or Iwill. On my GA-7ZX I got my FSB up to 105, tried 110 but it locked up in games. That's why I have a new Epox KT133A and...

Does anyone know if the Gigabyte 7ZX-1 VIA supports multiplier unlocking???

It doesn't, and being a KT133 chipset, FSB oc'ing is seriously limited. I can get my FSB only up to 105 (was stable at 110 in Windows, but would lock up in games). If you're planning to oc, avoid this board and get a good board with the KT133A chipset (Abit, Asus, Iwill, Epox).

Here at my university, the loveletter virus was passed around, till it apparently hit somebody who had the engineering students' email list in their address book. Every engineering student recieved the loveletter virus. Nasty.

Errr, meant to say "run", not "ruin". I don't have any figures handy, but I'm sure you can find some articles benchmarking the differences. That said, I would definitely want a TBird if that's what I payed for. Who did you buy it from?
