Win8 to Win8.1 not working

Thank you, tried but it demands some files from MEDIA - I d/l the upgrade so Im not sure what to do. Tried to put my Win7 dvd in but it wouldn't accept that. The files requested are installation files. At a loss again...

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I did D/L them all and tried to apply them in that order. Started with the KB2919442 but it wont install it, saying that it is not functioning with the updater program.

So, I have several computers (2 laptops + 1 desktop) that I purchased win8 licenses for when they were offering that cheap upgrade. The laptops have been upgraded to 8.1 thru the Store without any kinds of problems but my desktop refuses. The problem is that it won't install certain updates...

Thanks all for all the help received. What actually happened was kinda awesome. The door rang about a week ago and the service provider had a representative who came in and swiftly changed the Router to a newer model one - all works flawlessly and all good in the hood. Happy ending for me!

Ethernet is sketchy. It works if I turn all Wifi off, reboot computer and have Ethernet attached. Drops ORIGIN (D/L Titanfall... 50GB of pure frustration) and I have to un-pause until it freezes and then I have to quit Origin and start again...

yeah, my problem is this - I have disabled the Centrino and am running wifi over Trendnet TEW-624UB, a usb wifimodem and I STILL have issues. Using WLAN wont work either but it will with the other computers.

I can get a E7500 (wolfdale 2.93, 1066Mhz, 3mb cache) for a good price, would this be a good one? It is basically down to a new e7500 or a used Q6600. Which one would you go with?

I did change the card. First I went back with the 5770 and swapped it for a new one but it changed nothing. Then I threw in my old 8800FT (great card that one) and that got me through to windows but then freezings and re-boots started to occur again.

Win7 Hanging at Loading Windows....

Similar issues with a new HDD, a Radeon HD5770 and Win7. Cant even get the thing to boot. Have to turn the PSU off for a while to even get it to the BIOS... Not my planned experience and all to reminiscent of my WinME purchase :)

I feel obliged to recommend F.E.A.R. Hands-down, it really is an awesome game. Graphics are incredible (I cant max it out totally on teh rig), sounds are incredible and that DAMN little girl scares the ****** out of me even though it is the second time I play the thru (Xtreme difficulty now)...
