This started with the nvidia 900 series cards because NVIDIA decided it was a really good idea to require driver signing, further cutting off the open source drivers from being able to function. The open source drivers don't work at all because its by design on nvidia's behalf.
That and...
This thread confirms to me that NVIDIA does not care about linux at all, and makes me feel much better for buying an AMD videocard. In-kernel open source drivers are so nice. The only down side is the OpenCL open source drivers (ROCm) are not able to run folding@home yet. AMD just landed a whole...
I don't understand why people use windows so much and pretend to like it. I'm only using it for this competition because a key was given to me for free, and the AMD OpenCL drivers are in a bit of a transition right now for linux and don't run folding@home on the open source drivers quite yet...
Alright, I went and actually looked at the "minimum requirements" for linux mint. It seems mint is much more bloated than I thought.
System requirements:
1GB RAM (2GB recommended for a comfortable usage).
15GB of disk space (20GB recommended).
1024×768 resolution (on lower resolutions, press...
there is a bug with folding@home not downloading GPUs.txt leaving that file essentially blank. GPUs.txt is a whitelist and if your GPU is not on that whitelist it will not work. The correction is in the instructions that hiigarian provides.
I recall scouring the forums here a while back for text chat channels and found some really really dead threads about IRC. So, I would like to invite all of you to our IRC channel.

I suggest using hexchat for an IRC client (it works well on windows and linux)...
This thread is amusing if only because of hiigarian not being a very good process/tutorial writer, and how a bunch of people seem to like it? heh. Regardless, things will get cleaned up and better.
I mostly wanted to say that the nvidia drivers on linux require X to be installed (linux' GUI) to...
I generally keep track of 24 hour average... which is averaged over a week from Extreme Overclocking stats...

Could you guys persuade the other two teams to go two months as well? This would be a lot of fun... at least 20% more fun. Remember, more science is more better.
The defined set of rules from the previous competitions are good for us. I did pay close attention to you guys for your last...
2 months, any computing device to run folding@home on is fair game (I hear there is an android client these days). What other details do you want to know? We are flexible with the starting date.
Brony@Home started off as a folding@home team and later expanded into the various other BOINC projects... heh
Would it be more agreeable to have the competition from December 1st to February 1st? Our (normally internal) competitions are that long because we give away prizes to our team members...
On behalf of the Brony@Home folding@home team, I would like to challenge TeamAnandTech to a folding@home competition.
Normally our competitions run for two months. It would be preferred if the competition ran from 0UTC January 1st 2018 at the beginning of the year, and end at 0UTC March 1st...
