Which cheap P35 MB?

I guess it was in warranty. Maybe it's documented it somewhere in the manual, but they make you look for it. I'll RMA it... will probably take a while, but I'll just use the replacement board because I'm not interested in dumping anymore money into a desktop at this point(hence the cheap build).

Which cheap P35 MB?

It was in a Lian-Li PC-60B case that had a total of about 50-60 CFM of air going in and out of the case. MB temps weren't that high. It's not like an E2160 @ 3 Ghz is a crazy OC or anything.

Which cheap P35 MB?

It wasn't an open box unit. I cannot find mention of an RMA/warranty period through Abit, but the exchange period is 30 days through Newegg. It'd be nice if it had a year long warranty/RMA, but I can't find any firm evidence of this.

Ok - no red LED going when connected to the PSU, no activity when the power pins are jumpered(by switch or with a screwdriver). The PSU fires up when you ground the green pin, and it fires up fine on my old ASUS 848 board(PSU died, so I decided to do an upgrade since it'd been about 4 yrs)...

Off the top of my head the metric number for the Stephan-Boltzmann constant is 5.67*10^-8(just remember 5,6,7,8). Forgot what the units are... maybe that's why Heat Transfer gave me fits from time to time. :)

Flash drive or not to flash drive?????????

I love my 64MB USB1.1 Lexar drive. Even without USB2 speeds it's pretty darn quick(over 1MB/s actual I think? seems about that fast). I use mine to transport Word/Excel files around, as well as data for labs and whatnot. Sounds like you would benefit greatly from one of these little buggers...

AMD64/P43.2 With cost-ea almost same, which to get?

Athlon64 looks like it thoroughly trounces the P4 in most tests between those two chips. Go with an Athlon64 if you are actually looking to spend that much on a processor right now.

Ouch 103 Watt heat from the Prescott 3.6GHz CPU

It will take a VERY long time for any switch to be made from silicon to any other materials(who knows what it will actually be?). I'd be surprised if it happened sooner than 15-20 yrs from now, very surprised.
