I need to find or trick the .msi / installer to install a 32-bit e-mail client (eM client, mailbird, etc) on Win 7 or Win 10 64-bit, I have yet to find the standalone 32-bit prg_x86.msi or .exe of any modern client I can use with pop3 / IMAP. It's needed for a 32-bit system still in use at one...
I've been hanging around the forum since 2001 and the site since the start. I build computers and systems for friends and people that needs them. MY first GPU was 3dFX and then Riva TNT, after that I got the mighty Geforce 2. The rest is history.
Seem like HFFS (an improved AFFS) is better than IPS:
Wiki:
"Advanced fringe field switching (AFFS)
Known as fringe field switching (FFS) until 2003,[33] advanced fringe field switching is similar to IPS or S-IPS offering superior performance and color gamut with high luminosity. AFFS was...
Can anyone tell me the difference, pros and cons, ups and downs, of these screens that are on two new Win 8.1 tablets, that are about to be released?

You mean it's a glitchy connector or so? The inverter board seems like an easy part to change. I took it apart and it was right there under the screen, I've repaired tons of laptops before, I used to work at a repair center in the 90s for computers and repaired a few MACs and PCs lately. So you...
My Dell Inspiron screen needs either a new inverter, or backlight. The screen lights up for an average of 3 to 10 seconds sometimes, then goes completely dark. You can see what it is displaying if you hold a bright light against it. Sometimes I manage to get it to stay on for a few minutes...
I guess so, most good PSU start at around 400W and up.
We have a Be-Quiet 300W here that is really good, but I think it's more of an exception than anything else. It's about €30-35 (euros) or so. :)

Hmm case? have a big generic case right now, with pretty average cooling, but it doesn't generate any heat, the CPU has a 12cm heatpipe fan/sink combo. But that and the motherboard is all the heat that is generated.
Thinking about an Antec mini P180 mini or Fractal Design define mini. Or...
The efficiency between 30W and 120W is the most interesting here, I read a review of the Antec 650W, it seems to do best at 100W up to 400-500W. But really 250W is the starting mark for the 90% rating.
Are there any really good low power PSUs around these days? My needs are 150 W max. I mostly see reviews and post about PSUs above 500W. I guess the aim is to find something 200-300W that wont consume too much power and have low noise, as the computer I have built draws about 40W idle and peaks...
How efficient are these silent PSUs at say sub 100 or around 50W? I have an under clocked A10-5800K that takes about 40-50W idle, but the old crappy PSU I am testing it with almost consumes 10-20W by itself. So I need something new and efficient. 140W to 250 or 300W max. Any ideas? :)
That last bit, made me think of this:

Win 7? MS seems to be doing everything to get people to switch over to Win 8, discounts, lower prices, taking them off the shelf, etc.

Most people thinks there are only 2 parties, right? Before election they say they will tear up the patriot act and give you healthcare, but once they get elected, they renew it? O.o
You can run all that on a good 400 W PSU, I ran my Quad 125W CPU + GFX for a long time on a Chieftec 340W PSU.
CPU 50-65W? GFX 150W max? Say 50-100W to be on the safe side with fans and all?
A die shrink on the trinity from 32 nm to the 22 nm Intel is using would solve some of this power consumption issues/levels. Hmm, when is that due, is another issue. But then they'll just put more into it to increase performance. :p
Personally, I think dual core is so 2007, but that's just a...
I might have a few spare bricks @ 3, 5, 9 or 12Volts to plug into it.
Ok, I'm adding the i3-3225 to the list, as well, since it has the better HD 4000 graphics. Should do that with the i5 as well. :)
Yeah, you're absolutely right. I've been building PCs since the early 90s, but don't always keep up with all the thing as they seem to come out much more frequent now. :P
Here is sorta what I'm looking into. http://www.prisjakt.nu/produkt.php?p=1124745
Very inexpensive passive PSU. :>
Well, I want it to be sorta able to do that in the future, the difference in cost is 50 - 150 USD total? Besides, silent is the importance here. Would like it to be at least a good dual core or quad.
Sounds about right. :) The AMD A10 is cheaper though, so I'm just having it as an alternative.
I guess the heavy work this computer is going to do is youtube, mkv/avi/mp4 and streaming from online TV channels, that's about it. The 2500 GFX might be enough for all this.
Thing is, that the...
Building a non-gaming PC for a family member, where power consumption and silence is the key. (Both go hand-in-hand?).
I've narrowed it down to i5-3570T or an AMD A10-series on a mATX mobo with USB 3.0 / SATA 6 GB/s with SSD.
Going to use maybe a passive PSU and no gfx-card, but the...
Yes, the AMD Llano A6,A8 (even A4) on 14 - 15 Inch screen will be the best bang for the buck, probably HP or ASUS, I'd reckon. A SSD will reduce the load times and disk accesses many times.
Screen size? My small lap 12" favourite has for long been the Asus 1215B with E-450 1.67Ghz. (ca 350-400 USD)
http://www.asus.com/Eee/Eee_PC/Eee_PC_1215B/
http://www.laptopmag.com/review/laptops/asus-eee-pc-1215b.aspx (This one in the review, has the older E-350 1.6Ghz, but part from that and...
Right! E-450 or similar in 1.6 - 1.67 Ghz dual core is more for sub 12 inch notebooks etc. This computer is going to be housed in a chassi just so it can have a little more power. Want some for future expansion and demands too. So IMO Intel IB/SB i3/i5 with the lowest TDP or AMD Llano/Trinity is...
Ok, just a quick update then. No gaming, at least not now. Mostly web, e-mails, youtube, streamed vids and TV. Just normal stuff. The slot is for possible GPU-upgrades, can't hurt right?
Optical drive? Umm, not really. USB would fix that.
1. Either with full height PCI/PCI-E slot/slots, or low profile. 5.5 inch / 3.8 inch LP
2. Very little power consumption (PSU ca under 160-220w)
3. Very very quiet, SSD, fanless GFX (if included), maybe mobile CPU.
Thinking AMD Llano/Trinity, Intel i3/i5. Maybe a Radeon HD 66xx or 76xx...
