How to clean an Alpha copper heatsink

Is this for the surface area that goes against the CPU's core? You could use a metal polish (that does not have UV coating protection) on the surface of it. It will not impede cooling. And, seeing how you're only looking to bring the luster back to it, thee's no need for you to 'lap' it. ;)...

OCZ TECH Now getting 8500 LOVIN'

Sheesh,...unless you've dealt with OCZ first-hand, what's with all the bashing? Sounds like alot of you guys *cough*Chizow*cough* are playing devil's advocate. Got my OCZ Titan II ultra, Titan III, and a HELLUVA lot of DDR RAM from them, and have always been content with their service...

Getting an EL Cable to plug into a wall outlet ???

I think your best bet would be.....to just buy a cheapo 150W AT PSU. It would be ALOT cheaper than having to buy a A/C-to-D/C converter.

HSF for small system?

You shouldn't have a problem using a Low-profile HSF like THIS or even THIS Durons don't get nearly as hot as T-birds.....not even the Giga-Duron. ;)

New info on custom fan grills, window and blow hole cut outs!

Is it me or does that "Ying-Yang" grill look like it wouldn't protect your poor digits from the fan blades for sh!t? LOL :D Excellent work, I'm always admiring innovative ideas like the ones I see over @ [ H ] and other places. :)

Should a PAL8045 HSF need to be lapped in?

vsfoxe, You can also find wet/dry sandpaper at your local Hobbyshop,etc. I finished with a wet-polish with 1000, 1500, and 2000-grit sandpaper (from the Wal-Mart automotive paints section), and then polished with some Mother's Metal polish. *HINT* - Try to avoid using chrome polishes, as they...

Should a PAL8045 HSF need to be lapped in?

<< I've rarely seen an alpha sink that needed lapping....if you can see a GOOD reflection of yourself in it, then I seriously wouldn't bother.....unless the copper is getting brown (oxidized), in which case you can just polish it out. >> You mean like I did here? :D LINK to "PAL8045...

Lapping, what is it exactly, how do I do it, etc...

HERE is the finish I was able to acheive with a little patience and time. This is the surface of my Alpha PAL 8045 HS. :D Good luck!

Alpha PAL8045 Lowest prices?

You could go with Panaflo L1A (low-speed) 80mm fan? I'd just use the Delta with a rheostat though ;)

Yeah, that seems to have a pretty decent price for one. I got mine at CrazyPC.com for $46 + shipping, and I got the 80mm Delta fan with it :)

DUMB motherboard grounding question

Oh yeah. Don't forget....... the mobo is ALSO grounded to the PSU/case via the 20-pin mobo connector. :P

Come on, guys. In 99% of cases, the stand-offs DO ground the computer. Think about it. PSU ground-wire lead attaches to PSU casing. PSU casing is attached to 'puter casing. And, finally, mobo tray is attached to 'puter case. Hence, it is all grounded. So, if you want to easily attach...

Open case or closed case?

It's all dependant on what your room's ambient temperature is, as well as how effeciant the cooling is in your case. I have 3x 120mm fans on my computer (2-intake, and 1-exhaust) to cause "positive" case-pressure. All of which, are on their own rheostat.. I also have a 80mm fan for cooling my...
