Quick question on Asus and its readings

I have an Asus 277E and an 1800+ XP. With the stock HS and fan I got temps in the 47-50 range and now with a Coolermaster and 7500rpm fan it runs 42 idle and 46-47 under load, and that is with MB readings of 20-21 idle and 22-23 under load. Should I be doing more or should I leave it alone.

    Help!!

I was playing with my Heatsinks. I have a 1.1TB and a 1.8XP. I wanted the XP cooler, so I removed both cpu's, cleaned them and put on different heatsink/fan combos. The 1.1 wouldnt boot, and after a few attempts, the motherboard caught fire. I then swapped cpus, and the 1.1 was not working. I...

    FOP-38 Question!!

With the FOP 38/Delta I was getting about 55db from my case. Switching to a Sanyo Denki (I'll measure it when I get home) its quieter but also there is an aspect of the delta sound that is plain irritating beyond its actual volume. Lets say for example you could hear a 30db level of 1: ocean...

Easy 80 mm fan mod for FOP32/38

I wonder if mikewarrior2 has any comments on this. A thought I would have is that sucking air would be better than blowing air because to suck it is really venting it out thru the air being exhausted out the case rather than blowing the hot air into a turbulence as it hits themotherboard...

Easy 80 mm fan mod for FOP32/38

Case temp 22 PAL6035 with sanyo denki=35 PAL6035 with delta cpu=31 FOP38 with Antec 80mm fan=34 FOP38 with delta+29 All on my MSI. I would guess as mikewarrior has pointed out that the 1 - 2 degree difference is more in actual cpu temps. So for now Im back with the noise.

Easy 80 mm fan mod for FOP32/38

How hot was it before the 80mm fan? And would the center of the cpu get enough air? Im seriously going to try this mod.

CPU & Case Temp, Is this right?

Where can I find the aformentioned MBM?
  12. J

Should the fan blow onto OR suck air from the heatsink?

Depends on the heatsink. The PAL6035 sucks air away from the heatsink and alomost all others blow air onto the heatsink.

Best clip: Alpha pal6035, fop32, volcano II, or Vantec FCE-62540D ?

Alpha is the easiest for me anyway. The FOP was a nightmare. Also the clip has two pieces and the part with the hole came off as I was trying to remove it. Next time I install it I will use the clip from the Taisol on the FOP. I have no experience with the Vantec. BTW Im now running the PAL...

Just got my new Antec case

Ericlp: I bought it from Bestbuy for 99. I believe you can get it cheaper elsewhere. It has the Antec 300W PS. It now runs with the Sanyo Denki. In my enthusiasm I burnt out the fan header and so am able to run the Sanyo from the fan2 connector. Oddly it runs at 3900.

    MSI MS6330 K7TPro2

I was using the 12v supply for the cpu fan but when switching back to teh sanyo denki fan I plugged it into the FAN 1 on teh MB and it didnt work. Fan2 is working fine. Is this just a bad power supply or is my MB bust?

Just got my new Antec case

The SX830. Nice. My 282 now has the PIII500 leaving the 1.1GHz Tbird with the new, roomy one. The 4 fans plus the HD cooler, pci blower and teh Delta make one hell of a racket. Vacum cleaner sound. Case temps about the same but the cpu reads 1C lower.

FOP38; How loud is it? Buy or Not Buy?

Well I got the FOP38 and it is loud. So loud, that you develop a tic, start to stammer, your hair becomes grey and you end up going to a locked ward with other less psychiatrically challanged patients.

    Fop32-1 or Taisol CGK742092

The taisol is really easier to install. Also the clip on the FOP seperated when I was removing it. I have heard of it snaping when comps are moved as in LAN parties. Go with the Taisol.

What's a good fan to mod my Tai Sol CGK742...?

It is loud. It drones. You get tinnitus. Your hair turns grey, you get a tic. Then you start to see things that arent there. I switched back to my SANYO Denki.

    This really is silly

The noise of the delta is wearing. I will go with the sanyo. My worry is more of how the computer will behave in summer when the temps in my house are higher. Certainly it is otherwise stable...no lockups etc (although after my first attempt at putting on a heatsink resulted in temps of 65C...

    This really is silly

I keep fretting and obsessing over cpu temps that I know are inaccurate. MSI board. So it underreads by 10-15. PAL 6035. Sanded down with 1500 grit. Chasis temp reads 21C Delta fan...idle 31C Sanyo fan...idle 34C ARRRRRRRGH! I know there are many factors involved. Its winter ... room...

    Question for Mikewarrior2

I appreciate your efforts in explaining the inaccuracies of cpu temp readings and fallacies of published tests. You have mentioned many times your take on various fan/heatsink combos throughout the many posts dealing with or related to the topic. Would it be too much to ask if you could make a...

    Just ordered an Antec SX830

My PIII generic case which I leave running 24/7 strted to smoke up the room. I discovered a burnt power supply. So I ordered an Antec 830...and will put my 1.1Ghz TBird/MSI/PAL6035/delta(7000,LOUD rpms) into the new case and put the PIII into the 282. Quick question....is the cooling and noise...

    Why such discrepency?

For me, using the MSI tools for monitoring my temps on a 1.1Ghz Tbird at native speeds. FOP38/delta 34C idle and 38 full load PAL6035/delta 33C idle and 37 full load. This is in contrast to sites that show the PAL to fare far worse that the FOP HS. The site also demonstrated the Taisol HS...

    Antec cyclone blower

I found it to be useful, and it lowered my case temps by 1-2C. Rather than put it right below my GeForce2 pro I put a LAN card in PCI number 1 and the blower below for the reason that I thought the blower may interfere with the fan on the video card and the LAN card now allows the (rather...

    Small problem

You guys have been terrific with advice and help. I have one more prob. My system has been running well till today. When booting up the fan (delta) speeds up and decreases a few times before running smoothly. Never happened before. I have a 90mm fan in front, an 80 at back, a 3fan HD cooler...

    Here's being nutty..........

I love my FOP38 and the noise only gives me mild tinitus rather than the severe type from a rock concert.....j/k1 But anyway what I was thinking was in I attached another fan on the side of the fins sucking air would that help cool the cpu more? It would add noise I guess ... :D
  39. J

Do fan adapters w/ fans cool as efficient as cpu fans?

I think in the PAL's case you have to suck the air and maybe decrease the size of the shroud.
