All,
I am trying to perform a simple operation:
- I have an mP3 that is 1 or 2 hours long, and I want to copy only a 5 minutes section to a separate mp3 file.
pretty simple I think. I would like to keep at least the quality of the Mp3 I started with.
If it had a simple "Sonic graph"...
On my system I have the following SATA/PATA available:
2 SATA: One SATA HD and space for a future ~300 SATA HD
4 PATA: two HDs; one DVD-RW and one DVD/CDR (stock)
I recently picked up a 300GB PATA drive and thought I would remove the stock DVD/CDR drive and replace it with the new 300GB...

Thanks for the feedback...why do you rip then encode??
For me ripping has always meant rip from CD to MP3 on the PC.....What format do you rip to; if you are then going to encode to something different later??
I am burning my CD collection to disk and I ould like to gear some feedback on suggested levels to rip the CDs to:
- Do you use straight or VBR (variable bit ripping (?))
- Currently I am ripping music at 192 VBR; and spoken word (Comedy/books) at ~80 or 112 VBR
Last time I did a large...

I am running 550/600 on the GTO2 with 16 pipes out of the box, and a standard sigle width coller, and the box is a quiet as it was with onboard sound...
I really like the HIS coller, but have found that the...

Got the Sapphire X800 GTO2 VIVO 256MB DDR3 and it loaded nicely, immediately went to ATITool and overclocked to 500C/550M...the fan is quieter than anything in the box, basically silent with a light rustle...very happy....
16 Pipes right out of the box no mods needed, now to load some games...

A couple things I found out about the HIS X800XL Card:
- The X800XL is based on ATI's R430 graphics core (the GTO2 is R480)
- Memory speed: 490 GDDR3 (500 Turbo)
- Comes with two VGA to DVI adapters
- Review comment on the overclocking speed: The X800XL I had a more success with. I...
Both cards I am looking at have the following:
- VIVO
- Dual DVI
- Both appear to have 16 pipes ready to go out of the box
The Sapphire unit at $179 is a GTO2 card with a standard cooler
The HIS unit at $191 is a X800XL card, with a very good/quiet Arctic Cooling ATI Silenser...
He is an interesting development.... in my final quest for a decent video card....
HIS has an X800XL 256MB DDR3, VIVO with the Arctic Cooling for (drum roll...) $291 - $100 rebate = $191 !!! that is a whopper of a rebate.... That means an 800XT with VIVO and an AC ATI Silenser Fan for $191...

xSeongminx,
I too am looking to upgrade the video card to an X800 GTO (still deciding between the Ultimate to keep the noise down, or the regular with a basic fan)...either way I can upgrade the fan to an aftermarket, and get more quiet cooling than the FireBlade version of the X800 GTO rom...
Here is a great arrtticle that compares the "Sapphire Sisters":
Can anyone tell me how silent the Fireblade version is, when one if not over clocking?
I am intrigued by the silent version of the card, but if I want to overclock it (a lot) I need to add an after market video cooler...seems...
I find it interesting that what appears to be an older card, has better performance than the X1600 or X1300... does the engine make such a difference when the memory is compared??
X800GTO/256-bit with 256MB at DDR3 is better than
X1600PRO/256-bit with 512MB at DDR2?????
both have 12...
If you are reading a DVD or CD from one (Master) and then writing to the other DVD/CD writer (Slave) on the same IDE channel?

I can send you a scan of mine that I got from the OfficeMax folks, I got the floor model, so they gave me the UPC that was on the box...probably the same as the one for CUSA models.
