[Retired] The LCD Thread

Been looking the last few days for a monitor, could use some advice. I'm looking for around a 24" that does a 16:10 ratio (1920x1200) for $200 range. TN is fine since it's just a computer monitor, I have my 32" for watching movies or tv shows. This is just for light gaming (TF2/L4D-type, RTS...

Why does my Asus P5B-E keep restarting during post?

Well this morning, it seems that the problem is back. The computer ran fine all through the night, and I turned it off when I went to bed, but now I try to turn it on like normal, and it starts restarting again. I unplugged the CD-ROM which seemed to be the problem last time, and the problem...

Why does my Asus P5B-E keep restarting during post?

Yea, I'll do all my tweaking after everything's all set up. I've got windows installed now and am installing some other programs fine with the SATA combo drive, I find it weird I couldn't do a fresh install with it.

epox 8rda+ error code

disconnected all ide devices and tried starting up, I got the same "25" error code :( I'm about ready to give up, any other last suggestions?

yea I may look into that, but for now, I'd like to get the computer working again, I've got a ton of homework on it, not to mention the time it'd take to try to return the board, get a new one, and get it all working with the present OS install, et al. I don't have the time or patience!

I haven't flashed the BIOS in a long time if ever that I remember. "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." and I unplugged the mobo and took out the battery, new error code: 25. manual says it's "reserved"...??

my computer was running fine this morning. it's not when I come home from work. !! anywho, here's the situation: I've pulled everything out and reseated/plugged it all back in. I keep getting the "C1" error and the manual says it has something to do with the memory. I've tried every slot...

billyjak, there's only really two jumpers that exist on the board, the cmos and the fsb, both of which are fine and set properly. I've checked as well as two other friends have checked it, none of them are bent or broken off and all set correctly. removed the battery and put it back in, no...

Viper, I've never fooled with bios chips, so I can't answer that for sure. it looks like a rectangle, so it only goes in two ways, I'd assume it was in the correct way direct from the factory but you never know... edit: yea, from the picture, looks like one's dogtaged so it goes in one way...

been trying it mostly without the memory, and yes it stays at FF the entire time. I just emailed mwave.com for an rma, so we'll see I guess...thanks insane

the board didn't actually support tbreds up to that speed, so we tested his cpu in my system, making sure that the fsb jumper was right, nothing doing... I guess it's the mobo unless anyone else can suggest something. mech, I'm waitin' to know if it beeps or not, but that's not really a...

tested ram, psu, and vid card in a computer that worked, all of them were fine, now testing cpu in another computer (didn't know my friend had a board that supported it!) results soon...

forgot to uncap it for the other cpu, but I think it'd give me a different problem. cmos jumper is in the right position, I already cleared it once just for shits and giggles, and the only stuff I have connected to try to get it to boot is the vid card and the processor, nothing else attached.

it has dual out if I convert the dvi using the lil converter I have, and no I haven't tried that, though I'm not sure why one would work and the other wouldn't...gimme a sec that's a negative, no change in the status of the computer

yup, my sticker's a lot more pretty than that, but it has the same info, sorry about the typo, get the two mixed up! and I don't think under water would help :) last effort is to test the video card in someone else's computer I guess...if that doesn't work tomorrow, I dunno what to doooo

have not tried a different psu, or tested this one in another system. just tried a different monitor, nothing, so it's not the monitor. I've been testing it without keyboard/mouse for the most of this discussion :)

haha, thanks so much for the help, it's better to have more heads than one, esp if I was doing something stupid... alright, tested other cpu in it, no change, same stuff. couple of questions before I call it a night and test the video card and monitor in someone else's computer (if I can)...

nope, sure it's an agp, it was in my old agp slot in my old asus board. it won't fit into any pci slots any way, so it's not a pci :) voodoo picture mobo picture notice the connections are reversed...

agp slots aren't the same, I'm having an argument with a friend of mine about that, the old voodoo 3 3k will not fit in the new board's agp slot unless I turn the card around the opposite way. power connectors all plugged in, and it's "reamed" in good, made sure the white thingie fliped up when...

tried to test my old video card in the motherboard, but it doesn't fit, guess the 8x agp is a different slot? the monitor worked recently, so I know that's fine, can't be anything but the processor that I can see since everything's unplugged...no other suggestions?

I'm using a lap top, so I don't need to go offline to fool with the other computer alright, reseated the heatsink as far back as I could get it, everyting's unplugged except power and cpu, still nothing :(

I'm being a post whore right now, bear with me :) alright, pulled it all out, heat sink is on properly, but the fan is actually pulling air away from the cpu rather than pushing...I'll turn it around unless that's what it's supposed to do! anything else? maybe the hard drives?

mech: I don't have a pdf viwer on here, stupid work laptop...but I'll check it sk-7 hs, ys tech adjustable 80mm fan. yes, the hec power supply plugs into the ps fan header next to the cpu fan header, both are in properly. I both drives are maxtor, my main one is now the new one, 80 gig 8mb...

only jumper on it other than the cmos battery is the fsb 100/133 or 133/166, and it's set correctly. that'll be hell, but I might hafta end up doing that... done no one I know has a system that can handle some of the components...
