that little program cost me a pretty penny, but I had 12 lappies locked up. latitiude.exe is not the only program you want..... the latitude.exe opens up the doors, but then its svctag.exe and Ee-cp.exe that do the work when the doors are open.

That service doesnt work all the time, I heard about them from people. It has very limited service tag numbers. I actually found a way around it.............you just reassign the service tag id with a dell program and it wipes out admin passwords. it does nothing for primary passwords, but...

Found way around Dell admin password for cp, cpi and inspiron

I had a lappie with the admin password set........ so I just bought a program that wipes out all the bios and admin passwords....and now offering it to you. .It works on allthe following models: Latitude XPi series, Latitude C series inclucing CP, CPi, CPa.... Latitude LS, Inspiron 2000...

Dell admin password and bios password

Dell latitude cpi d300xt with Admin password

I have flashed the bios, pulled the cmos battery over night, and no luck. I had it totally apart and am thinking of pulling the eeprom chip and soldering in a new one and flashing it with the newest bios, but the chip is like $60 and I run the risk of ruining hte mobo if my heat gun...

Resetting bios password.

$180 plus two way postage is not an option...be easier to replace the mobo....well cheaper, not easier......serveral screws and take your time and your there, as long as the new mobo isnt burned in with password also. I have the same prob with several off lease lappies...dells and IBM's....you...

I have a laptop I got from a failed .bomb........got it cheap, it runs fine, but it has an admin password on it and I cant change any settings. Any advice? Can i just pull the cmos battery and start over? Its not on the HD, its embedded in the unit as far as I can tell................I pulled...

I TRIED the dos install for the third time, It recomended that i not reinstall so i BOOTED TO floppy, dumped all partitions and drives..................then the reistall took place. I NOW HAVE a good HD b/c of all the suggestions.............you people are the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish I could, but there is no cdrom. the computer is bare bones system, to be used for auto tuning, its just a pig thinkpad with Mono screen, but its all i need to tune a car and run simple programs if i can get it to dump LINUX. I am doing the dos install for the third time, It recomended...

I dont have the cdrom that the OS came from, in fact the laptop doesnt have a cdrom. I can boot off a floppy though. Will low level formatting the HD work. What is MBR?????? how do i do that?

Thanks for the reply. I fdisked it a second time and it only formats what is left over on the HD, which is like one MB. it reads the same thing. I will try the MBR suggestion as well and maybe try to lowlevel format. LEEDSPOINT IS THE BIRHTPLACE OF THE NEW JERSEY DEVIL....>:)

I am a complete idiot. By mistake, I ran fdisk using Dos6.2 with a boot from Floppy....thats not the problem...the problem is there was a fully running Redhat Linux OS on the HD already....taking up like 97% of the HD. Now on bootup it only comes up with the Ram count and two single letters...

The control panel will come up, but I can not go into any files....tells me to contact system administrator it wont let me in to add remove programs....as I mentionsed previously, it will let me save to a:\ only, cant go any further than that....I am bummin...thanks for the advise.

Yeah, some folks are telling me thats wierd, that fdisk wont come up from a boot disk. I made the boot disk just like IBM said as well, on hteir webpages.... I will check with them for more help. I think my best bet may be to contact the systems administrator from the company I got these...

I really think I am screwed. Maybe the next step is the five pound sledge.... courtesy of my dads "Italian mans way to fix it" thinking. Its only a P133, so its not like its something fantastic, but a good laptop with cdrom etc. thanks again for all the help

The dos that comes up is severely disabled...from the boot disk that is. I can not make another partition as I can not get into fdisk....it will only allow access to simple commands like dir, a:\copy, etc. I will try to get a tweakui copy, and a HD util from man's. I have one from Seagate...

Yes its a win98 password, I am pretty sure. Safemode is disabled to my knowledge....but I am not a techie, so i am not sure how to force safemode.....how do you force safe mode? I checked the autoexec and config files...nothign out of the ordinary noted. I appreciate the info. :)

I didnt see any thing named Strom windows and I checked pretty thorough through directory using DOS and I just found a way to let me look in windows, but it wont let me open anything. I can save to my a:\ and read on another computer... yes these laptops were in a huge fortune 50 company...

I am using a boot disk to get to DOS I cant get past the first screen to create another id...it keeps telling me "this operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Pleas contact your systems administrator" It will not let me past that first login. thanks

Thanks for the reply. Its Win 98, not 95. I mad a boot disk and can get to dos, but it wont do several commands like formatting, etc. I kinda dont want to nuke the drive as there is the full OS on it and this laptop is a real pain, as a normal install of win 95 or 98 requires all kinds or...

I bought some laptops with all the HD's formatted except one. It comes up to a win 98 start screen and asks for user name and password. If I type cancel it restricts access to the computer and you cant use it or go anywhere. I would like to bypass the password or find out what it is and...
