Surface Book and Surface Pro 4

I've held out buying a SP3... but now SB looks too tempting. I was thinking of spending around $1500... but may have to stretch my budget a bit more. overall, I am so impressed with microsoft in what they are doing to get back in the game.

Need help with bee hive

if they are crawling down the hole, you might want to give Diatomaceous earth a try. food grade just to be safe. i used to have massive ant problem right outside my house. I tried all types of sprays and insecticide... including gasoline. None worked better than Diatomaceous earth.

Do hard drive diagnostics tools (i.e. Seatools) ever give false positives?

I use seatools on a daily basis. In my experience, seatools does not give false positive. When you're running these DSTs and seatools detect a bad sector, it tries to move the content on the bad sector to another one. Afterwards, it marks that sector bad and prevents the drive from accessing...

Urgent help needed re: Mac mini hdmi And 2048x1152

Ok, to clarify.... HDMI 1.0-1.2a : upto 1920x1200 HDMI 1.3 : 2560x1600 HDMI 1.4 : 4096×2160 MiniDisplay : 2560×1600 On current line up of MacMinis the max resolution is 1920x1080 via HDMI. So in short, NO! IT'S NOT GOING TO WORK... not at your requested resolution.

no windows CD key on refurbished dell latitude E6500

if you google for it, there's some xp key changer that will read off your current serial key. assuming that you are indeed keeping everything legal, i'd recommend this route. just copy it down and re use it during install.

Excel 2008 font size too small compared to Excel 2007.

yeah, display size is not the problem. it's more of a os screen dpi. I read somewhere that windows use 72dpi while osx uses 92.

I use both OSX and Windows. I recently tried to move over to OSX as my main work computer. But one thing is really hindering me from switching. Excel 2008 fonts are too small. Sure I could use the zoom function to raise the font size. But that also raises column & row numbers as well...

if you have iphone or g1, you can use the app to dial out. or using landline, you can call your number and push some buttons to dial one of your contacts. (since i have g1, i haven't used that feature)

in terms of technology, it's going to change the phone industry. i use gc with tmobile's fav5. unlimited incoming, unlimited outgoing. for my g1 and iphone, it even has app to dial out. it'll be a big deal once the google voice opens up to everyone.

just to cover all areas... 1. are you working with all known goods? converter? molex power cable connected? 2. if you are able to see it under bios, then i'd try to boot off of Knoppix and recover files there.

well, i guess you passed over that whole IBM "death"star series. i had 4 of those 60-80GB ide drives. all ended up as paper weights. some within weeks, none lived past a year.

let me shed some light on this matter. newegg gets their hds cheap with their volume discount, not with lower grade products. there are some other vendors out there that gets gray market products (products meant to be sold in other countries), and sells them for less. newegg is a seagate...

i have two of these intel boards, one with sata and one without. the problem for me is not so much the power rating, but limited expansion slots. it has just 1 PCI (32-bit) slot. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem, but if you try to add a sata raid controller + a gigabit nic, you're out of...

comparison and help with the mac pro

I have a 8 core (dual xeon e5440) workstation that I use for video editing purposes. In my experience, osx was better than xp in terms of software utilizing all 8 cores. I get stuff from intel at work, so i didn't have to pay for it... But if you're thinking of building one, i can testify...

how are you getting it to utilize 100%? i haven't tried it out on my quad core system... but if what you say is true, i'd move all my files over to that one. i was even thinking about installing osx, just to see if things are better on the mac side.
