Is there a way to boot / mess with someone on my network?

Mac filtering will secure your wireless network for about... 10 minutes if not less. Sorry mate but the best way is to use WPA. There is a reason that exists after all as opposed to just MAC filtering.

Multiple line outs

Is it possible to take advantage of the multiple line outs on the SB Audigy. Supossidly it has 3 total. 1x standard line out 1x for sub/center 1x for other. However I can only use the standard one. What I am trying to accomplish is hook up my 36 Inch tv to my vid card and have it play...

Make sure APIC mode is enabled and not disabled. Which is located under the Advanced Bios Options

That is your problem right there. You need to enable ACPI in the bios... however by doing that you WILL NEED to reinstall Windows as a different kernel will be used.

I would say clean install of Windows should do the trick. I personally haven't seen any IRQ conflicts since the early days of Windows 2000, because then everything became ACPI and it basically took care of the problem. Make sure it says ACPI Uniprocessor PC under computer.

Will a Windows 2000 Pro upgrade CD format a new HD okay?

Works fine, during the GUI portion the setup (not the blue GUI but the actual 16 color GUI) it will ask for you to put in a Windows CD to verify that your upgrading.

P4 1.4 with a intel 865pe mobo? P4 1.4, you must mean 2.4 as 1.4 were never made (and if they were they were socket 423) Reformatting is really the only solution, OS degradation is a Windows feature :)

Microsoft VM or VMWare?

It really depends. Are you planning to use Linux, Longhorn, FreeBSD or Netware in your testing than I suggest VMware If you are planning only to use only Windows products, than I'd suggest Microsoft's Virtual PC.

umm don't know if your kidding.. but you aren't Could be many many things. He could have used isopropyl or it could have been in a room that frequently had scents in it. If the vid card works, obviously it isn't burnt. Of course it could be the thermal paste.... if its old and it smells it...

that is why you make backups of your documents, email and such. mp3s shouldn't be on your raid anyways. applications should either be on cd. If you truly have "important" files you should know better than to trust your HD.

I would suggest sticking with SATA raptor drives. With certain Intel boards (like the one I recommended) you can use the Intel chip to configure two similiar SATA drives in a RAID.

Did your DVD+RW drive replace all your other optical drives?

I have a DVD+/-RW with a CDRW combo drive. That way I can still do DVD to DVD copies and have a secondary CDRW device that is 48X instead of 24X.
