I have an Asus A7N8X Deluxe and a Vantec Aeroflow T.M.D. fan/heatsink. The problem is that the mobo apparently does not provide enough current at start-up to spin the fan, so I had to use a 3/4 pin adapter and plug directly into the power supply. Now I can't monitor the fan speed so I want to...

A7N8X and "g" bios and cpu detection

Yes, the "g" BIOS is known to have problems. Go up to the 1002.001 beta or down to a lower version than your current one.

I'd say go with the PC3200. Even if you don't use it now, you'll be happy when you don't have to buy new RAM with your next processor.

How do you get 1.825v? I have the same board and same BIOS, but the highest my Vcore shows is 1.75.

Asus A7N8X Bios

No I have not been able to run at 200 MHz FSB. I was able to POST at 10 x 200 but froze at the XP load screen and could boot to windows at 9 x 200, but it was not stable. I am running at 180 x 10.5 @ 1.7v right now. Will probably try higher again later, but my attempts at 200 have failed so far...

Cannot change CPU multiplier

If your board shipped with the 1001.g BIOS then you need to try downgrading to an older BIOS. Mine came with the 1001.g and I had the same problem with an 1800+ T-bred, but when I downgraded to the 1001.c BIOS I was able to overclock fine.

Asus A7N8X Bios

Mine shipped with the 1001.g version of the bios and the multipliers were NOT unlocked. It would fail at boot because the CPU was overclocked. I flashed to the 1001.c and am able to select all multipliers now.

Help! CPU Temp hit 170+F

Just a thought, but it could be the fan header on the mobo if that is were you have it connected. Try using a 3/4 pin adapter and plugging the heatsink fan directly into the power supply. You will not be able to monitor the RPM, but you will still be able to monitor the temps. If you still have...

Aeroflow fan only shows 2600rpm on A7N8X Deluxe?

Yes, ASUS Probe is the windows monitoring application that comes with the A7N8X. Health section in the BIOS reports the same thing - between 2600 - 2900 RPM.

Will an Athlon XP work in K7T Pro2-a?

Title says it all. I checked the MSI website, so I know that this board does not appear to "officially" support anything above Athlon 1.4. It should be capable of the correct multiplier as well as a FSB of 132 (higher with OC BIOS if I understand correctly) though. So will it work?
