LOL it's a Macron 400Watt psu... so basically no name... is there some other way that I can test that voltage? Just to make sure? See cause right now in MBM5 the -12.00V seems to be showing up at a constant 1.47V....?!!

400 Watt PSU good enough?

400 Watt PSU good enough?

I was just wondering whether or not a 400 Watt power supply is sufficient for a P4 2.8C system with 3 hard drives (one being 10000rpm), 2 CDROMS and 7 fans... been having some trouble with my computer and was wondering if that could be the problem.

Appreciate the repsonse man but the only problem I was really having was I couldn't get the SATA drive to be my first boot device (and therefore my C: drive). I'm just leaving it the way it is as the E: drive because everything is working just fine. I've got a 400 Watt PSU in my case.

Quick question about the WD Raptor hard drive..

Oh so the WD Raptor can do 150 Megabytes /s whereas the other Caviar drives can do 500 Megabits/s which is more like 60 Megabytes per second. That makes a bit more sense thanks :)

Problems cooling P4 2.8C with stock cooling!

I guess I will have to do that. I just thought that the stock heatsink etc should keep it cooler than that. So when I take the thermal pad off, do I have to take off that silver tape as well? The black pad scrapes off but there's still a silver tape left there. My buddy got the same IK1100...

HD sound in linux compared to WinXP

I just got a new Toshiba hard drive for my laptop, partitioned it for linux and WinXP and installed both. This hard drive is supposed to be hydraulic bearing and I definitely notice that it's quiet in WinXP but not at all quiet in linux.. is this normal? My XP partition is NTFS and linux is ex3.
