Well, I am really not in a hurry to do the upgrade anyways. Guess I need to do some reading and find out what I have been missing out of. Thanks for yalls suggestions!

Not sure what you are talking about. All I know is for around $200 I can a new mobo, cpu and 4gb of DDR3 mem. I have no desire to have a cutting edge PC, just want to speed up my outdated system for minimal cost.

The power/LED connector is like a nine pin block connector. The old cases that I used to mess with long ago had individual wires that came from each LED/buttons etc. I do have enough ventilation (large rear fan) as the orig CPU drew 115W (old P4 3.6 ghz).

So the connector for the power button, power LED and HDD LED should connect? The old builds I used to do were somewhat difficult when it came to connecting these.

Hello, I was wondering why cpuz is stating that my memory is running single channel, but when i boot the PC the bios says that the memory is running in dual channel mode. This PC I am working on is an older Pentium 4 3.06. All 4 memory slots are filled with the same PC-3200 memory.

Display properties then desktop very slow

Help! Somehow now when I go to display properties then click desktop (winxp) it is now taking about 3 minutes to respond because all 2500 of my jpegs are showing up in the background area. I was letting a friend use my PC and now this is happening. Does anyone know how to "un do" this? Thanks!

Ho can I find out what HD is in my Fantom external drive?

Hello, I just purchased a Fantom GFII1000EU external hard drive and I would like to know what brand of disk drive is inside enclosure. Can someone point me to the right direction to find out. All my usual was of finding out are not telling me what I want to know. Thanks!

Seagate hard drive is loud

Hello, I have also had the same issues with the noise with seagates. I personally do not want to hear the head moving back and forth (reminds me of the old ST-225s) lol. I have two WDs that make no noise at all, but my 1 tb seagate is ticky, if you want to call it. Just have to live with it I guess.

Winrar 3.80 causes windows update to stop working?!

I installed winrar 3.8 about two weeks ago and the next day I noticed the windows security balloon saying that auto updates are turned off. I could not turn them on, so I manually tried to do a windows update and got an error, rebooted.. no help. The only change I made was installing winrar, so...

Winrar 3.80 causes windows update to stop working?!

xbox 360 broken - what does microsoft actually fix?

WD6401AALS Really that good

Cloned harddrive with Acronis True Image now need to re-activate XP??

As the title says; I used Acronis True Image to copy the data from my old 40GB drive to an 80GB. It all seemed to copy ok, but when I booted up on the new drive, windows xp says that there were major hardware changes and I have:confused: three days to activate. Is this normal? Thanks

Why is firefox so slow to load compared to IE7?

Maybe it is my system that is too slow to run firefox 2.0. I have an Athlon XP 3200 @ 2500mhz and only 768mb RAM,WD raptor 150gb hard disk & winxp. Task manager says that I have 410mb ram available for programs but it maybe incorrect. I guess I will get another 512mb ram or just live with it...

Why is firefox so slow to load compared to IE7?

It seems odd that it takes firefox 15seconds to use (start program & wait for program to be ready for use) and IE7 will do the same in 4sec. I know that it is not my system that is slow. It's really strange that IE7 which is a huge program and took about 15min to download and install will load...

Does a 300w power supply draw 300watts AC?

I have always wondered how much AC electricity my PC consumes. My monitor shuts off after 15min. but the PC runs 24/7. If I have a 300watt power supply which I assume is 300 DC watts. How much electricity is it consuming from my AC wall plug?

I want a quiet hard drive!

win2000 lost page file after copy to new disk!!!

4x dvd burns only at 2.4x!

I have used sony and philips 52x CD-R, would not burn faster than 40x, memorex 16x DVD+R would only burn at 12x and imation 4x DVD+R would only burn at 2.4x. I do not buy cheap or off brand blank media.

I installed AntiVir. I cannot find where it scans my emails through outlook express though. I was using AVG and it scanned my incomming and outgoing emails. Is there a way to make AntiVir do this? If it cannot scan emails, I'll just go back to AVG!

Should I choose video card with DVI only or VGA/DVI connectors for best quality?
