Seems surprising that mobo manufacturers wouldn't have samples by now considering launch is only a couple months away. Pretty sure we had plenty more info at the same point last year with Ryzen.
Does this mean that Z390 isn't a thing then? I mean Intel has never confirmed it officially and the slide could just mean B360 etc boards next year and keeping the current Z370?
Not really, you can have a stable overclock but be pushing enough voltage to cause damage/reduce the lifetime of the chip. Seen it a few times recently on the AMD side where people were pushing near 1.5 to get good 4.1ghz overclocks only to have it become unstable after a couple weeks and be...
At most. If you look at most people on Reddit for example there really aren't that many people hitting 4ghz - and even then not without pushing a lot of voltage. The most common overclocks are the 3.8-3.9 mark.
They are comparing against 'industry 16nm FinFET solutions' so could be anything. Do you really think we will see Ryzens going up to 4.4ghz with this node change?
A lot of AMD fans are expecting at least a 10% improvement in turbo clocks over current Ryzen with the new 12nm process. That would be great, but I think quite wishful thinking to be honest.
