Nice deal. Thanks for the heads-up...I ordered one. Going back to 21" after many months of a cheap 15" I found when I moved into my last apartment. :)
I looked up the specs on this thing, btw and it looks like a Sony tube. 1600x1200@85Hz. Very nice.
Hmm. I can't get it to come up with those fares from Seattle to Vegas. Too bad...that would be a fun day. Why is it that you can fly out of San Francisco but not to there?
Yeah, turns out I'm a moron and ordered the P4 1.6 "special" from Newegg without realizing it wasn't a 1.6a. The weird thing is that the pack date listed on the processor box is 6/28/2002....I thought they weren't making Willamettes anymore....
Anyway, I went to my local computer shop and...
My new P4S533 and new retail P4 1.6a seem to be having issues. I'm getting a consistent stop error trying to boot into WinXP (even safe mode), but this could possibly be a hard drive issue because I successfully booted into a rescue console from my XP cdrom. However, my main concern at this...
My luna theme got corrupted recently and I want it back...I don't like the windows classic theme. If somebody could zip up the "C:/windows/resources/themes/luna" folder for me and email it to me I would really appreciate it.
thanks.
When I first added bookmarks to several sites they all had these neat little icons that were individual and nice-looking. Now they've all reverted to the ugly default link icon. It didn't happen all at once, either - a couple of them went one day, and then a couple of weeks later the rest did...
I went shopping for this player today and found it in-stock at circuit city. It was marked on the shelf as $209 but rang up at $159 and also comes with 5 free DVDs (MIR). This is an excellent budget DVD player that also plays SACDs, which blow traditional CDs out of the water for sound...
I checked two local blockbusters today....one didn't have any copies for sale and the other had 8 copies for sale with no cases but they were marked (and rang up) at $24.99. Guess I'll try the two others I know about in my area tomorrow. Of course, I just won a copy on ebay from a seller who...
It is fraud though, whether or not it's illegal. You represented to the ToysRUs people that you had gotten the games there, or been given them as a gift I'm sure. It's not taking advantage of the system, it's cheating the system.
The $15/50 game exchange is way over the line.
I highly doubt anything in this movie was inspired by a desire to top the sixth sense. That ending was pretty neat though, even though the rest of the movie was stupid.
You know what movie had a good ending? Leolo. I really liked that movie.
<< *warning* spoilers if you haven't seen the film.
Anyway.... I thought the beginning was pretty good, but most of the film after he met Jude Law was pretty dumb IMO (and I like pretty much every movie Jude Law is in). I didn't understand why Jude stuck with the kid for so long, among many...
Yeah, I agree too. This is a film more than a movie. If you don't like independent films much, then you probably wouldn't enjoy or realize the significance of this movie much. It really is a wonderful work of art, though (albeit a very expensive one). Plus, the special effects were awfully cool.
Circuit city has this on sale for $19.95 right now as well...not sure how long it lasts (price is marked at $24.99). I picked my copy up on the 5th when it came out and watched all the special features. I'm going to sit down with the movie (for the fourth time...three in the theater) this...
I don't think that's technically true. AFAIK, the Fraunhofer institute owns the MP3 copyright. MP3 is actually a decoding standard only, which is why various encoders will encode differently with different results. So any time you play an mp3, you're supposed to have to pay a royalty.
I'm...
sweet...sea-tac is about 10 miles from my apartment. Looks like my brother-in-law and I will be taking a little trip down to the airport tomorrow. Too bad parking is $5/hour.
<< This is one of the 3 major incidents I have had at Best Buy which have made me decide to try and rip THEM off at every opportunity. Like next week, I'm goin' on vacation, so I'm gonna "rent" a portable DVD player from them, and they can have it right back the day I return. I wouldn't even...

<SHAMELESS PLUG>BTW, all you CompSci majors or would be majors, UMASS is cheap and has one of the to 10 CS programs in the world. Plus, you get free MS software :) I guess that's sort of a recruiting incentive!</SHAMELESS PLUG> >>
Not sure who told you that, but...
undergrad ratings...
If the systems are going to be used for gaming at all, I would highly recommend an upgrade from the GF3 to a Radeon 8500. It should only add about $50 to the price and it will significantly improve gaming performance.
Yes, I do have my cable modem plugged into the WAN port on the router....but the switch is isolated from the WAN port AFAIK, and I can't imagine that having a cable modem plugged in would limit the rest of the ports to 10Mb. The SMC documentation for this thing states that it can only do about...
Ok, thanks for the advice. These are cheap store-bought cables, so I'll try replacing the 50' to the laptop with a 3' to see if that helps.
And don't worry about asking the bit/byte question...I understand. The first question I always ask my mother whenever she thinks something is wrong with...
It's megabits, as in small b. I don't even think my laptop hard drive could handle 10MB per second transfer, but I sure know it can do better than 10Mb.
I downloaded and ran a diagnostic utility for the laptop and its NIC autodetects at 100Mbps. The diagnostic utility provided for the netgear will only run in real DOS mode, so I can't run it on the server.
Hmph. Any more ideas?
thanks again.
The laptop is a 400mhz PII with 288MB of ram running win2k sp2. The server is a 400mhz celeron with 128MB ram running win2k. I know these aren't very powerful machines and aren't high-end NICs, so I don't expect to really get a full 100Mbps throughput, but I know that the network is the...
Is there a way to tell what speed they autonegotiate to from windows? Neither of the NICs have LEDs that indicate what speed they're linked at. There's also no way that I'm aware of to tell what speed the router autodetects at, and no way to manually set the link speed for the switch ports...
I have an SMC Barricade router (7004BR) that has a 10/100 switch built-in. I have a server and my laptop both plugged directly into the router's LAN side and can only get 10Mbps for files transferring between them. I use my server as a file server, so this is kind of a significant issue since...
FYI, you can register .com/.org/.net domains for less than $10/year. Try a site like godaddy for registration, and then mydomain for dns, forwarding, etc (it's totally free). It's pretty easy and very cheap.
Just got the flyer in the mail yesterday. $19.95/month including cable modem lease for six months, then $45.95/month after that. No contract required, though, so you can quit after six months if $46 is too rich for you. AT&T runs this deal every few months, but it's still nice to know when...
congratulations! I've got a two-year-old son myself...kids are the best thing in the world....as long as you don't mind getting puked on constantly for the next few months. :)
Flat: I've asked him if he will accept escrow but haven't heard back yet. If he is willing to do that then that's what I will do.
CG: Great! I'll send you a PM in a second with some more info. You've made my day!
no no, nothing like that. I'm just worried that if I send him the money I may never hear from him again. If somebody actually goes to his address and exchanges a money order for the computer then I won't have to worry about that.
