1. will I be able to put in Athlon or Duron?
2. What kind of motherboard upgrades need to be done for either new celeron or AMD?

I have a video cd where the only files have the extension .vcd. There are no mpegs, and Media Player can't recognize the files. Any ideas for software or anything else??

I tried it on Media Player; it won't open it, and it doesn't have .vcd as an option for a file extension. Is this a problem, should the extension be something else? ( I bought this cd on ebay off someone.)
Is there any software that could be downloaded that can read .vcd format?

We are installing win98 SE. From DOS we can't access the cd-rom at all. She found the name of the driver it uses, but where might that be located? A search for drivers on C: comes up blank. Any way to get DOS to see the driver too?

We need to reinstall windows on my roommate's comp, but first need to reformat. However, when we go to DOS to format, it says that there is no cd driver! How then would we be able to install? We can't even access the cd drive-- it keeps saying invalid drive specification.

Okay, thank you very much! I will have her reformat. (I should say, SHE thinks it is a virus, but Norton said there were no virus. It did detect close to 100 errors, 4 of which could not be corrected though.)

Does win98 automatically format upon installation? It didn't give an option for clean install or not. Should she reformat, or does Windows take care of this?

I am thinking about upgrading to win2k, but I know that some of the things I have are not compliant-- for instance, my TV card explicitly says "not Win2k compliant". If I upgrade and not clean install, will the drivers and devices all still work?
