system beeps...nothing on monitor.....dead cpu?

Thanks, I appreciate the help. I cannot find the mobo maker anywhere, but I do know it has the award bios and intel chipset. I did put a new stick of ram in, but took back out and put back in, still with consistant long beeps and no picture. And also, video and sound are integrated.

It was just long beeps from the moment we turned it on. It was built at a local puter shop but it has an intel chipset and runs a 400 celly.

My RAID is not showing up...

I dont really know if this is going to help, but after I set up raid 0, I did'nt exit then. I had to set one drive as the initial drive or something like that and then exit the raid setup. I understand being new to raid as many here helped me set mine up in rough situations.:)

Yes, I went to gigabyte website to see if I can figure something out since I dont have the manual, but I think your right, I believe it is in the bios. I feel like such an idiot, I just never ran across this with any other mobo I've worked on before. Thanks Guys I appreciated the help. Chris

GO FIGURE--phone line boots up computer.

I'm not sure if I know what you mean. yes the phone line goes into the modem in my computer, but doesnt pass through to a seperate phone. My phone is on a seperate jack in the house. It boots up my computer when someone calls or I try to call someone.

Is the Sony 12X DVDROM any good? What software player does the retail box come with?

Athlon 1.2GHz (266MHz FSB) and PC133 vs. DDR

Yucky the ddr chipsets are out and have been out......Iwill ka266. Pc 1600 and 2100 ram have also been out and many here have been using. Also, he wasnt asking about ddr memory, he was asking about 266 fsb.

Floppy Drive Light Always On

Just had this same problem. Just plugged in the connector the only way it could go in. Nothing but a light always on. Finally, after almost a day, figured out that the cable connectors were installed on the cable backwards. I actually had to cut off the little notch that was on the connector...

Help: What Case to Buy?

I got the sx1030 about 1 month ago and love it. It comes w/ 2 80mm fans. I chose this over the 830 because it has 4 5&1/4 bays as opposed to 3. What is nice is even if you dont have the slots filled, it has a door to cover them up, which the 830 does'nt. I have cd, burner and sb live 5.1...

Is this DDR Memory good?

Yucky dont take this the wrong way, but I'm confused. This link deals w/ crucial no longer having 2100 in stock. rcoops is refering to corsair, not crucial, which by the way seems to be a reasonable price for the ddr memory.

heck, I dont know! I just saw this stand alone clip yesterday so as soon as I saw you were in need of a clip, it was the first thing that came to my mind. But hopefully, someone here will know if the Alpha and the GlobalWin clips are interchangeable. Sorry.

I say unless you have a conflict, dont worry. In win2k on my kt7a-raid board I have 8 things sharing the same irq. I cant believe there is no conflict, but have learned not to worry........yet.

Solved - Damn Modem drivers won't stay installed!

Right click on my computer. click on manage. Click on system information. Click on hardware resources and you will see irq's. This will tell you what componants share what irq's. You can also click on conflicts/sharing and this will tell you what your looking for.

How hard is it to build a system for a newbie?

You should have no problem. I'm not familiar w/ fic but you are just looking to upgrade from what you have. One thing to consider, is if you are planning to upgrade your processor, how soon? Maybe it would be better to go with the kt133a chipset instead. If you don't plan on upgrading soon...

The lady I spoke with said I will have to call everytime I reformat, upgrade or anytime I re-install, because it has already been registered twice (can only have it registered 2 times even if it is the same computer that has just been reformatted.) I think they need to make changes internally...
