just use breaststroke.. if you can do it decently fast then you will outpace yourself doing freestyle within 100-200m.. freestyle is a fast stroke, but tiring.. when i was getting my lifesaving medals & NLS i always just did breaststroke for the whole distance..
i would just take taxis everywhere for the most part. Cabs in HK are the best. Very reasonable rates - there are cabs EVERYWHERE and they cannot refuse to drive you anywhere.
