Warm--WD 80GB 7200 for $119 after MIR at OM

I got in on this, thanks for the info. I was able to use the staples 40 off 200 :) We (friends and I) ended up with 40 80 gig 7200 hard drives. Final cost gonna be about 90 dollars each !! :)

Am I an idiot for wanting to buy a Voodoo 5500?

If you are going to use Windows XP as your OS, don't get a voodoo5. Mine sucks in XP, I haven't found any good drivers yet. There won't be any official drivers from 3dfx (duh), so people are cracking them to work with XP. If you are going to stick with win98, the voodoo5 is awesome. the AA...

So is this the dustiest CDROM drive ever?

I fixed a computer for a friends mom a few months ago. I opened the computer, and loads of dust, and even a spider web?? Even worse, I popped a few keys off to clean the keyboard and a sprout was growing (very small, but still). She had eaten a salad over the keyboard and spilled. :o

What ripper do you use?

Audiocatalyst and Lame --- no comparison. I used audiocatalyst to rip most of my cd's a couple years ago. I thought the quality was good, and was happy with that. A few months ago, I tried using RazorLAME to encode. The sound is very different; LAME does a much better job than audiocatalyst...

it's got a v12 engine. That's like saying "It HAS got a v12 engine" that's why you use the ' It's going to get hot in here "It IS going to get hot in here" that's why you use the ' I'm not sure about the exact uses though :(

AGH! Stomach ache.....again

You can have bad stomach acid without having an ulcer. I did, and had to have surgery to repair it. When you say "stomach ache", what do you mean? Is it an acid ache, or something else?

task manager in winXP

In windows 2000, the shortcut for opening the Task Manager at high priority is CTRL-SHIFT-ESC. I'm not sure of how to set it to allows start high priority.

Requirements for Windows XP

Sounds like a load of crap to me, just a sales pitch. The BIOS won't support XP? The Drivers won't support XP? XP will install generic drivers, at the least. And most drivers will still work. Don't worry about it, you shouldn't have a problem. Get a couple more opinions, though.

How do I boot from W2K CD??

I haven't used the back-up wizard before, so I'm not sure about that. As for booting to CD, you need to go to your BIOS at bootup, and select boot to CD as your first option. When your computer boots, it will say "Press any key to boot to CD". Press a key, and it will boot. You need the...

I've been using Eudora for years, I really don't like Outlook, etc. I used netscape back in 95 and 96, but it's fallen behind since then. Opera is pretty nice though.

Whoah -- I thought that going into "safe mode" would give you options to load with minimal drivers or a step-by-step approval of which drivers to load. I've never had any probs with my HP burner and win2K -- good luck getting it sorted out.

XP,worth the upgrade from Win2k Prof?

I'm messing with XP right now, and really like it.. It has been stable, and the GUI is ... different, but you get used to it. But if Win2K is working great for you, then I wouldn't upgrade.
