hey all
long time no post. :P
anyway i just bought one of those vostro 200's w/19" for 399 deal for my daughter.
well i wanted to try my hand at maybe getting a little more speed out of the 2140 and was wondering if anyone here has went any further with the bsel mod on these. i've been...
yes there is.the most noticeable difference is the processor and memory have been rotated on the pcb alittle to fit the agp controller chip.and then the memory is different.pci-e comes at 1000ddr were as the agp comes 900ddr.
mine too. ;<)
there was a time when if you didnt have voodoo you didnt game. i remember seeing unreal the first time on my buddys 166mmx with a voodoo1.talk about eye candy :)
i believe theres no difference in 2d.
i would still get the 8500 if you could.theres gota be some things that would benefit the higher bandwith and faster vpu that the 8500 offers.
as far as the fan goes i dont think i'd unhook the fan.the heatsink is on the small side to be passive.what i did...
i believe my friend runs his stable at 350/380 but milage will very.
as long as you have good ventilation in your case and dont go to far you'll be fine.
well your leaving acouple important things out such as primary use and system specs.
as far as vendors i would highly recommend newegg.they may not be the absolute lowest price but thier close to it.and they have about the best shipping and return policy i've ever delt with.
if you have atleast...
was looking for a cheap way to convert my vhs-c camcorder movies vcd or eventuly dvd.i think i want something that hardware decodes to mpeg2 then i can software convert to mpeg4 so i can burn to cd.am i thinking right or is it harder than that.
i've been running 3-pin 80mm case fans off my mb headers for a long time now no problems.these are low rpm(3200 rpm) fans and wouldn't suggest any delta's or tornados but think you'll be fine.
as far as which fan is better it all depends on how much flow or noise you want.stick with a lower rpm...
same core as i got.
so far i cant get the 14 and 15 multi's on my mb to work and something is holding me from getting above a 144 buss(using lower multi).:(
so as of now my chip will run 1800 at default ,looping with cpu stressing program.:)
well it may work but chances are that you'll run into some ramdom restarts when pushing the p.s..ck you're 5 volt rail amps.if your up around 20 amps you may be ok.i believe amd likes atleast 24 amps on the 5v rail but you can ck thier site to see.they have a list of recomended ps's.as far as...
not really familiar with your mb, but if its a 133(not the 133a) chipset you could still use your buss but your agp/pci will probably give out alot sooner than the mb's with the newer chipsets made for the higher buss.so using the multipliers would prove benifitial.i would also ck to see what...
that depends on how good of chip you get.without any multiplier changes that would be about 1627 mhz, which that chip should run no problem.so unlocking it may be your best choice since then you could get more out of the processor while maintaining your 155 buss.

if you run good memory and have one of the descent 266a mb's this chip should work great.even if your mb wont handle that high of a buss(agp) thats what we unlock them for.
theres alot of tests on them, do a search.
basicly it comes down to how much you want to spend and what type of motherboard you have(for mounting compatibility).
